Is it too late to suggest that ¡°framework¡± is an unhelpful label in the research excellence framework and the teaching excellence framework (¡°England¡¯s KEF: will it be a ¡®patent-counting¡¯ extra reporting burden?¡±, News, 19?October)?
¡°Assessment exercise¡±(as in ¡°research assessment exercise¡±) was better, and the original ¡°research selectivity exercise¡± was even more to the point.
