If I were a professor, I might get my own office in which I could keep actual things that I might wish to save in the event of a fire (¡°A roomful of riches¡±, Features, 24 August). There is nothing in my (shared) office that I would save; nothing is unique or irreplaceable, it is all digital and exists elsewhere in multiple formats. I suspect that this is true for most front-line teaching staff in English universities.
