Asia University Rankings 2021

The Times Higher Education Asia University Rankings 2021 use the same 13 performance indicators as the THE World University Rankings, but they are recalibrated to reflect the attributes of Asia¡¯s institutions.

The universities are judged across all their core missions ¨C teaching, research, knowledge transfer and international outlook ¨C to provide the most comprehensive and balanced comparisons available.

China is home to the continent¡¯s top two universities for the second consecutive year, with Tsinghua and Peking universities holding on to first and second place, respectively.

Meanwhile, Japan is the most-represented nation again this year, with 116 institutions, up from 110 last year. Japan has also achieved its best performance in the ranking in six years; it is home to two of the top?10 universities in Asia for the first time since?2015.

Elsewhere, Israel is home to the top institution outside East and South-east Asia, but most institutions in the country have declined.

Iran has a new top institution, Kurdistan University of Medical Sciences, which is included in the table for the first time this year. At 45th?place, it is the highest-ranked new entry in the?list.

The 2021 ranking includes 551 universities from 30?territories.
