Bauchi State University was founded in 2011 with three campuses around the state of Bauchi itself. The university is run by the Nigerian Bauchi State Government.
While the student body is mostly composed of residents of Bauchi State, the university accepts candidates from all over Nigeria and has on-campus accommodation to facilitate students traveling from across the country.
Bauchi State University has nine faculties in total, including: agriculture, arts, engineering, environmental science, education, law, pharmaceutical science, social and management science, and science. Programmes are offered from an undergraduate level to a postgraduate level, and remedial courses are also on offer.
Since the university was established in 2011, it has expanded to four campuses: Gadau, Misau, Bauchi, and Jama¡¯are. The main campus is located in Gadau and houses the faculties of: arts, education, science, and pharmaceutical science. Misau, Bauchi, and Jama¡¯are are periphery campuses specialising in certain faculty offerings.
Bauchi State is located in the North East of Nigeria, and takes its name from the historic town of Bauchi.
