The Department of Mathematics (MAT) of the Faculty of Science and Technology invites applications for the position of Full/Associate/Assistant Professor in the area of Statistics. This position is intended to complement and strengthen the expertise of existing staff members. We are seeking candidates with a proven track record in terms of scientific publications, and a commitment to teaching and student supervision.

MAT currently has 18 faculty members and more than 40 PhD students, their research areas cover Probability and Statistics, Financial Mathematics, Computational Mathematics, Mathematical Physics, and Analysis. The department offers Bachelor, Master and PhD degree programs. The Bachelor degree program has two streams: Applied Mathematics, Statistics and Data Science. The PhD program provides sufficient financial supports through the following funding sources: Chinese Government NSFC Funding, Macau Government FDCT PhD Funding, UM PhD Scholarship, UM PhD Assistantship.

Qualifications

Applicants must hold a PhD degree in Mathematics, Statistics or related areas; Preference will be given to candidates with a strong research record in Statistics, Applied Probability or Data Science. The department is working on developing a Master program in applied statistics.? The successful candidates are expected to contribute significantly to the program.? The candidates for appointment at the rank of Full Professor must have achieved a high level of distinction and recognition, and have made significant contributions to a related research area.

The selected candidate is expected to assume duty in March 2025.

Remuneration

A taxable annual remuneration starting from MOP1,250,200 (approx. USD154,350) for the position of Full Professor, MOP1,052,800 (approx. USD129,980) for the position of Associate Professor and MOP855,400 (approximately USD105,600) for the position of Assistant Professor will be commensurate with the successful applicants’ academic qualification and relevant professional experience. The current local maximum income tax rate is 12% but is effectively around 5% - 7% after various discretionary exemptions. The Department of Portuguese of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities invites applications for the position of Senior Instructor of Portuguese. The Department of Portuguese is an established and lively scholarly community. The Department offers an undergraduate degree in Portuguese Studies concentrating on Portuguese with selected courses in Language, Linguistics, Literature, Culture, History and Translation. At the undergraduate level, the Department also teaches Portuguese language within the Faculty of Law and offers elective courses in Portuguese as a foreign language to students from all faculties of the University. Qualifications

Applicants must possess at least a Master degree in Portuguese Linguistics, Portuguese Literary/Cultural Studies, or Teaching of Portuguese as a Foreign Language. Applicants should have extensive experience in teaching Portuguese to non-native speakers at university level. Previous experience in teaching initial and advanced levels Portuguese to native speakers of Chinese will be highly valued. Applicants must be native speakers of Portuguese or to show a near-native command of the language. Proficient command of English is mandatory.

Your workplace:

As a Senior Lecturer, you will be working in the field of theoretical foundations of computer science. You will primarily design and lead introductory and in-depth courses on topics such as algorithms and data structures, fundamentals of intelligent systems, mathematical foundations of computer science, fundamentals of numerical computing and introduction to mathematical modelling. In addition, you will work on the design and implementation of an extension curriculum in Artificial Intelligence. You will further develop the courses you supervise in line with the current state of research and coordinate their content with the other courses in the curriculum. You will organise the courses according to modern didactic principles, taking into account the discipline-specific requirements of computer science. You are involved in defining the requirements for the necessary infrastructure and coordinate these with the relevant departments.

The employment level of 40 hours/week includes an average teaching obligation of 14 semester hours per week of academic teaching.

Your future tasks:

You actively participate in scientific teaching, research & administration, which means:


	You will teach courses at Bachelor's and Master's level independently or together with other lecturers
	You will make an active contribution to the (further) development of course and examination formats
	We expect from you the ongoing reception of the current state of science as well as continuing didactic training. Research activities are welcome, but not mandatory.
	In addition, the assumption of administrative tasks, especially in the administration of teaching, is part of the job profile.

The Institute for Labour and Social Law is one of the leading teaching and research institutions in Austria dealing with central problems of Austrian and European labour law and law of social security. Your personal sphere of influence:

As a University Assistant Praedoc you will complete the research team of Univ.-Prof- Mag. Dr. Elisabeth Brameshuber in the field of labour law and social security law. Besides your own research activities, you will take on tasks such as independent and supportive teaching of courses and examinations, supervision of students and support regarding research, organisational and administrative tasks.
