The Chang Gung University of Science and Technology has its roots with the Ming Chi College of Technology in 1983, which became the Chang Gung Institute of Technology in 1991. The university gained its current name in 2011 and is situated across two campuses; the Linkou campus in Taoyuan City, and the Chiayi campus in Chiayi county.
The university has two colleges of nursing and human ecology, as well as a Centre for General Education. The nursing college includes departments in respiratory care, and geriatric care and management. The college of human ecology was developed in 2011 and offers a range of subject areas including childcare and education, cosmetic science, nutrition and health sciences, Chinese herbal medicine, and food and cosmetic safety.
The Centre for General Education arranges lectures on the humanities and improves students¡¯ English proficiency through its four departments: liberal arts and social sciences, foreign languages, natural sciences, and physical education.
At Chang Gung University, there are a range of extracurricular activities and student clubs in art, service, autonomy, entertainment, physical training, and social development. Throughout the year, clubs will hold various contests, concerts, workshops and events.
Students can also take advantage of an array of leisure facilities on campus during their down time. The fitness centre has an aerobics classroom and testing centre. The student dormitories also have a fitness centre, karaoke room, computer room and reading room.
