We are looking to recruit a Teaching Fellow to join our committed and enthusiastic team of anatomists in our goal to provide the highest quality student experience.?

The University of Southampton is a global centre for excellence in research and education and a founding member of the Russell Group. The Centre for Learning Anatomical Sciences (CLAS) is part of the Medical Education group, in the Faculty of Medicine.?We are located at Southampton General Hospital where we benefit from?a resource-rich creative environment and the close proximity of our clinical colleagues.

Our principal role is to develop and deliver human anatomy teaching and learning for undergraduates. Teaching areas include gross anatomy, microanatomy, developmental anatomy and neuroanatomy. Members of academic staff also have curriculum management and development roles in the Faculty and wider University.

In this role, you will focus initially on teaching anatomy to undergraduate medical students studying on the BMBS programmes. Your teaching contributions will include practical sessions, workshops and lectures and you will take a leadership role in the delivery of areas of provision e.g. cardiopulmonary etc. You will contribute to the setting and marking of assessments and the analysis and evaluation of anatomy teaching. There will be opportunities to develop and deliver innovative teaching and learning approaches in anatomy and you may contribute to courses for a range of postgraduate professionals including surgeons, anaesthetists and other health professionals. In addition, there will be opportunities to undertake leadership, management and engagement activities within the Faculty.?

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic medical/anatomy/science undergraduate degree or equivalent professional qualifications and experience in a related area. The successful candidate would have a detailed understanding and knowledge of anatomy and experience teaching anatomy within higher education. Experience teaching medical students would be desirable. ?

About the Role

The Associate Lecturer in Rural and Remote Health (Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health) will be responsible for contributing to the preparation and delivery of the College’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health topics. This includes development of teaching materials, delivery of lectures/tutorials or other innovative teaching and learning strategies, examinations and placement education with cultural context. This position will have a focus on the Medicine (MD Program and may also contribute to multidisciplinary placement education.

About You

To be successful in this role you will exhibit:


	Completion of 4 years of tertiary study or equivalent qualifications and experience
	Evidence of making a contribution to teaching and the scholarship of teaching at the discipline level, including involvement in curriculum development and teaching methodology
	Experience applying innovative approaches to pedagogy and/or curriculum design
	Capability to engage with e-learning platforms for teaching purposes
	Demonstrated experience in communicating with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, key stakeholders, and their representatives to achieve positive outcomes
	Familiarity with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health issues and an understanding of the social determinants of health as they impact Indigenous Australians.


Level B

About the Role

The Lecturer in Rural and Remote Health (Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health) will contribute to excellence in teaching and learning across the College’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander topics. This position will be responsible for making an independent contribution to teaching and the scholarship of teaching using innovations in teaching practices and technologies to deliver excellence in teaching and placement education with cultural context. This position will have a focus on the Medicine (MD) Program and may also contribute to multidisciplinary placement education.

	Completion of a PhD, or equivalent qualification
	Experience of significant teaching and learning experience and excellence at a tertiary level

The Faculty of Law invites applications for a fixed term employment as a doctoral researcher or a postdoctoral researcher initially from 1.2.2025 to 30.8.2026 (in the case of a doctoral researcher) or from 1.2.2025 to 31.1.2026 (in the case of a postdoctoral researcher). The position is associated with the project Comparing Early Modern Colonial Laws (CoCoLaw), led by Academy Professor Heikki Pihlajam?ki and funded by the Strategic Research Council of Finland. The doctoral / postdoctoral researcher will work with Professor Pihlajam?ki and the project’s researchers to develop their own research in relation to the project theme within early modern colonial legal history. 	in the case of a postdoctoral researcher, developing single-authored peer-reviewed journal article(s);
	in the case of a doctoral researcher, developing the doctoral dissertation;
	co-authoring and/or editing academic work with the project PI and collaborators;

	contributing to the research community within the Faculty of Law.


Requirements for the position and assessment of qualifications ?

According to the Regulations of the University of Helsinki, an appointee to the position of?doctoral researcher?shall hold a second-cycle degree and the right to complete a doctoral degree at the University of Helsinki or shall be granted the right to complete a doctoral degree at the University of Helsinki during the trial period at the beginning of the employment relationship. Other requirements shall include an approved research proposal, the ability and motivation, as demonstrated in previous degree studies and otherwise, to pursue postgraduate studies and a doctoral degree according to the study plan and research proposal.

According to the Regulations of the University of Helsinki, an appointee to the position of?postdoctoral researcher?shall hold a doctoral degree and have the ability to conduct independent scholarly work as well as the teaching skills necessary for the position. Other requirements include a research proposal, and ability and motivation, as demonstrated in previous research and otherwise.

To fulfil the research requirements of the position, the applicant chosen is expected to live in the Helsinki area, be physically present at the University on a regular basis and participate actively in the research and teaching activities of the research project. (Doctoral researchers) and postdoctoral researchers have a teaching load of (5% -) 10% of their annual working time, corresponding roughly with one or two courses of 20 hours contact teaching.

When assessing applicants’ qualifications, we will particularly consider:


	ability to work and develop research ideas both independently and collaboratively;
	background knowledge of and previous experience of research related to comparative legal history and colonial law;
	familiarity with theories or academic work relevant to the project;
	in the case of postdoctoral applicants: previous publications; and
	English language skills, while Finnish and Swedish are considered an asset.


What we offer ?

The salary for the position will be based on levels 2-4 (doctoral researchers) or level 5 (postdoctoral researcher) of the job requirement scheme for teaching and research personnel in the salary system of Finnish universities. In addition, the appointee will be paid a salary component based on personal performance. The annual gross salary is €29,500 - 38,500 (doctoral researchers) or €42,000 - €46,000 (postdoctoral researchers). There will be a six-month trial period for the position.
