Dordt University, established in 1955, is a Christian institution associated with the Christian Reformed Church. It is named after the historic Synod of Dordrecht which took place in the Netherlands in 1618 to 1619 and generated three major confessional statements of Reformed churches including the Canons of Dort.
The college says that ¡°the curriculum is designed to give each student a complete comprehensive education from a solid, reformed, Christian perspective¡±. Students can choose from 30 majors and 12 pre-professional programmes. Some of these are actuarial science, agriculture, art and design, biology, business administration, chemistry, Christianity and popular culture, church music, communication, community development, computer science, construction management, criminal justice, digital media production, English, education, engineering, mathematics, nursing, philosophy, politics, sociology, social work, statistics, physics, theatre arts, theology and worship arts.
The Dordt campus is located in Sioux Center, Iowa, a town of 7,000 people which is an hour away from Sioux City, Iowa, and Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
There are more than 30 majors and 12 pre-professional programs of study. Degrees include the four-year bachelor of arts, bachelor of science in engineering and in nursing, and bachelor of social work degrees, along with the two-year associate of arts degree, and a master of education degree.
