Dr B.R. Ambedkar National Institute of Technology Jalandhar
An engineering university, Dr. B. R. Ambedkar National Institute of Technology Jalandhar (NIT Jalandhar) was founded in 1987. It is based in Jalandhar, Punjab, India and it was established as a joint venture between the governments of Punjab and India. NIT Jalandhar was formerly known as the Regional Engineering College.
It is well known for its bachelor programmes, especially within the computer science and engineering specialisations. But NIT Jalandhar also offers masters and PhD programmes.
The university offers several disciplines including: biotechnology, chemical engineering, civil engineering, computer science and engineering, electronics and communication engineering, industrial and production engineering, information technology, mechanical engineering and textile technology.
To gain practical experience outside of the classroom, students at NIT Jalandhar have the opportunity to take part in a placement programme with top organisations. These include major companies like Microsoft, Amazon, Infosys, Reliance Petrochemicals Limited, Hero Motocorp. As a result, many students are given a job offer after university.
NIT Jalandhar offers accommodation to its students and there are 10 hostels for boys and three hostels for girls on offer. All hostels have reading rooms, indoor games, internet facilities and washing machines.
Elsewhere on campus, there¡¯s a comprehensive library, computer centre, community centre, shopping centre, banks and post office. There¡¯s also bus transport facilities that take students and staff to and from the campus.
For students with an interest in sport, there¡¯s a comprehensive sports complex, which includes playgrounds, tennis courts, basketball courts, volleyball courts and an open air theatre.
There¡¯s also a variety of clubs including a robotics club, innovation clubs and cultural affairs.
