Duke University's Fuqua School of Business, established in 1970, is the business school of Duke University in the US state of North Carolina.
Originally called the Graduate School of Business Administration, it gained its current name after a $10 million donation in the 1970s from businessman and philanthropist JB Fuqua.
There are about 1,500 students organised into 10 disciplines: accounting, marketing, decision sciences, economics, finance, management, health sector management, management communication, operations management, and strategy.
Degree options include the Daytime MBA, the Global Executive MBA, the Weekend Executive MBA, the Master of Quantitative Management, the Master of Management Studies: Foundations of Business, the Master of Management Studies: Duke Kunshan University, and a PhD programme.
The Fuqua MBA programme offers several joint degrees with other schools at Duke, such as medicine, law, environment and earth sciences, public policy, and nursing. This allows students to do two degrees in a short time.
Duke Executive Education also offers non-degree business education and professional development programmes.
Research centres at Fuqua School of Business include the Center for Energy, Development and the Global Environment (EDGE), the Center of Entrepreneurship and Innovation (CEI), and the Center for the Advancement of Social Entrepreneurship (CASE).
Duke alumni head many Fortune 500 companies, including Apple, Cisco Systems, JPMorgan Chase, and PepsiCo. Notable alumni of Fuqua include co-founder of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation Melinda Gates, Victoria*s Secret CFO Pamela White, and mountain climber and explorer Alison Levine.
