Gakushuin University is a private university located in Mejiro, Tokyo. After World War Two it was re-established as a member of the Gakushuin School of Corporation and then became a university to educate the children of Japanese nobility.
The university has faculties in law, economics, international social sciences, letters and science. There are many Japanese language classes for international students and approximately 60 classes are taught in English on campus.
Although the university caps the number of students it accepts each year, it admits approximately 80 students from other countries each year. The university offers scholarships for international students.
There are a range of research institutions at the university including the Foreign Language Teaching and Research Centre, the Institute for Biomolecular Science and the Research Institute for Humanities among others.
