Gower College Swansea (Coleg Gwyr Abertawe) is a further education college. It was established in 2010 following the merger between Gorseinon College and Swansea College.
The college is located in Swansea, a city on the south coast of Wales.
The college offers a wide range of higher education courses including foundation degrees, A Levels and Higher National Certificates and diplomas. There are also vocational courses for students searching for a specific career. These include BTEC, NVQ and City and Guilds qualifications.
For those students looking to earn while studying, the college offers a selection of apprenticeship programmes, which are funded by the Welsh Government. These apprenticeships give students the opportunity to gain practical experience and qualifications. There are more than 30 different career routes to choose from.
In 2003 the college set up the Kenya Community Education Project which is mainly run by students. The project works in partnership with the Madungu Primary School in Kenya, raising money to maintain a feeding programme for over 120 of the school*s pupils. It also raises enough funds to pay the salaries of two teachers and provide them with a variety of educational resources. The college hosts an annual Kenya Project Day to raise money, but also fundraises throughout the academic year.
