The Gulistan State Pedagogical Institute was established in 2022 as the teacher-training and education arm of the more established Gulistan State University. The aim of the new institute is to train high-quality Uzbek teachers, using the latest educational technology.
The institute is located in a province that borders Kazakhstan, and education is conducted in Uzbek, Russian, Kazakh and English. Some departments, such as preschool education, also teach in Tajik.
The institute undergraduate and master¡¯s degrees are offered across five departments: exact and natural sciences; pedagogy; Uzbek language and language teaching; social sciences and arts; and theory and methodology of physical culture.
Lecture halls and classrooms are equipped with up-to-date projectors, as well as video and audio systems. An institute hostel accommodates around 400 students; others rent apartments near the institute.
