Igdir University opened in 2008 with classes in agriculture, theology and engineering. It is located in the district of Igdir.
It is based on two campuses, one in Igdir City and the other at Severan.
Students can study in schools of fine arts, arts and science, economics and administration, sports science, tourism, applied science, health sciences and dentistry. The Graduate School was opened in 2020.
Centres include Mount Agri Applied Research Centre, devoted to environmental and tourist issues around Turkey¡¯s highest mountain, known elsewhere as Mount Ararat, which is clearly visible from Igdir.
