The Graduate Research Academy requires a highly organised and efficient administrator to support the work of a dynamic and busy unit. Applications are invited for a permanent appointment as an Executive Assistant (Graduate Research Academy). The Executive Assistant will work as part of an administrative team and will report to the Director of Graduate Research or their nominee.

Applicants for the post should have excellent communication, organisational, people and IT skills. The successful candidate will have a proven ability to work well in a team environment but will also have demonstrated ability to use their own initiative. They will have experience of completing concurrent tasks within competing deadlines and will have demonstrated excellent attention to detail and accuracy in their output.

Salary:

Executive Assistant (2024): €30,713 – €46,950 p.a. (13 points)

Appointments will be made in accordance with public sector pay provisions.

The School of Medicine offers an extensive portfolio of graduate opportunities at Higher Diploma, Graduate Diploma, Masters, Professional Masters and Doctoral level across four major specific modalities of psychotherapy, namely, Child Art Psychotherapy, Group Analytic Psychotherapy, Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy, and Systemic Psychotherapy. Senior Lecturer/Lecturer/Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Urban Planning and Design?(Ref.: 530409) (to commence from February 2025, or as soon as possible thereafter, on a two-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal)

Applicants should possess a strong Master’s or doctoral degree in urban planning, urban design, urban transportation and urban studies, or related disciplines, preferably with substantial experience in professional practices. About the Centre for Water Technology and Policy

The Centre for Water Technology and Policy, established in 2018, conducts cutting-edge research on water technology-policy interface issues that would result in findings of direct practical relevance for Hong Kong’s urban water sector. We are seeking a Senior Research Assistant to help coordinate the implementation of large-scale, city-wide applied research and knowledge exchange projects that pertain to urban water resources management.???

Position Overview

The appointee is expected to play a key coordinating role in implementing the Centre’s research and knowledge exchange programmes, which pertain to salient public policy matters in the urban water sector. He/She will work closely with the Centre’s Executive Director and members of an interdisciplinary team, with guidance and supervision provided by the Executive Director.

Duties and Responsibilities


	Team collaboration:?Collaborate closely with members of an interdisciplinary team, taking on a coordination function to ensure efficient project execution.
	Drafting of project write-ups: Conduct literature reviews and prepare first drafts of project progress reports.
	Community outreach:?Utilize the latest smart water metering technologies and insights from behavioral science to design and conduct community outreach activities that focus on water sustainability issues.


Requirements


	An MPhil degree in a Social Sciences discipline (e.g., Geography; Public health; Public policy; Sociology; Urban planning), with at least one year’s post-qualification experience
	Excellent proficiency in written and spoken English
	Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to collaborate in an interdisciplinary environment?
	Able to work independently and as a member of a team to meet tight deadlines

The Riddet Institute is a world-best research centre in food and nutritional sciences, providing fundamental scientific understanding and training for a new generation of science leaders. The Riddet Institute includes a New Zealand Centre of Research Excellence (CoRE) that integrates partner organisations (Massey University, Auckland and Otago Universities, AgResearch and Plant and Food Research) and disciplines. Collectively, this leads to a 'NZ Inc' approach to food research and generates knowledge and capability that transforms the New Zealand food sector.

The Riddet Institute has developed in vitro models that individually simulate the behaviour of various parts of the human gastrointestinal tract in terms of food breakdown and nutrient absorption. One such example is the Human Gastric Simulator (HGS), a dynamic model of the stomach, and we are seeking a high-achieving researcher with a strong background in food science or food engineering to work on a research programme to characterise the breakdown of food in models of the human gastrointestinal tract.

The successful candidate will undertake research using these in vitro models to characterise the breakdown and properties of food during digestion and compare this with in vivo data to develop improved dynamic in vitro models, giving us a better understanding of the breakdown behaviour of different foods and the dynamic absorption of nutrients.

As the successful candidate you will have the following:

PhD in food science, food engineering or a related discipline Strong interest in the understanding of food behaviour in the human digestive system Demonstrated practical experience and a proven track record in working as part of a collaborative multidisciplinary team to achieve defined objectives Prior laboratory experience is essential, preferably with experience in testing the physical properties of biological materials Knowledge of human digestive physiology, and the ability to work with engineers in the further development of the in vitro models, is desirable Why Palmerston North?
