Our Wellbeing and Welfare department helps to lead on, and contribute to, the student experience along with other support services such as academic registry, employability and careers, and the Student’s Union. We are looking for highly skilled mental health professionals with experience in supporting those with complex mental health needs.

Our well-established service is on a journey through an exciting period of transformation and you will work within a committed and supportive multi-disciplinary team made up of mental health nurses, occupational therapists, social workers, eating disorder therapists, and counsellors. You will play a lead role in supporting the service and the wider University to offer proactive and compassionate mental health support to our entire student and staff community.

Within this role you will be working with the Wellbeing team to develop a service to meet the changing needs of students with mental health concerns to bring about evidence based improvements to the service provision.

We are willing to consider applications from recent graduates with a current membership of the NMC/Social Work England/HCPC.

The Position

The Provost is appointed by the University Council and is accountable to the Council through the Vice-Chancellor and President. As the deputy to the Vice-Chancellor and President, the Provost serves as the chief academic officer of the University.? Working closely with the Vice-Chancellor and President, the Provost will lead strategic planning for excellence in education and research, assume overall responsibilities for the academic and research functions of the University, oversee academic budgeting, and direct proactive recruitment and retention of academic staff of the highest international standards.? The Provost is also expected to foster collaborations with internal and external stakeholders, manage risks and compliance obligations, supervise subordinate officers and units, and deputize the Vice-Chancellor and President as needed, among other duties as assigned by the Vice-Chancellor and President or University Council.

Candidates for the Provost position should have a distinguished record of scholarship in their own field of study, demonstrated track record of academic and administrative leadership, acumen for business and financial control, high integrity, proven experience in institution building, and dynamic management abilities. Candidates should also have an international perspective with a solid understanding of the development trends and opportunities in higher education worldwide, coupled with a commitment to higher education in Hong Kong and the region, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills for articulating the University’s mission and vision to diverse University constituencies.

The post holder will be a microbiologist with experience in the biology and mechanisms of microbial biofilms as relevant to their structure, function, or interactions within complex microbial communities.

We are seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to join our team in an exciting project focused on drought monitoring and forecasting. This position?is?in?The Center for Remote Sensing Applications (CRSA) of the College of Agriculture and Environmental sciences (CAES) at the University Mohammed VI Polytechnic. This position offers an excellent opportunity to work at the intersection of remote sensing, climate science, and data analytics, contributing to the development of innovative solutions to mitigate the impact of drought on agriculture and water resources.

The successful candidate will lead research efforts aimed at improving the monitoring, prediction, and management of droughts. The focus will be on developing methodologies that combine remote sensing data (satellite and drone) with climate models, machine learning algorithms, and hydrological models to forecast drought events and assess their impacts on ecosystems and agriculture.

Responsibilities


	Conduct research on drought detection and prediction using earth observation data, climate models, and ground-based observations.
	Develop algorithms and workflows for near real-time drought monitoring and early warning systems.
	Integrate data from multiple sources (e.g., precipitation, temperature, soil moisture, vegetation indices) to assess drought severity and its spatial and temporal evolution.
	Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams working on climate resilience, hydrology, and agricultural sustainability.
	Publish research findings in high-impact scientific journals and present at international conferences.
	Contribute to the development of decision support tools for drought management.


Qualifications


	PhD in remote sensing, climatology, data science, hydrology, environmental science, or a related field.
	Strong background in remote sensing and experience with satellite data, especially in agricultural and hydrological applications.
	Expertise in climate modeling, data assimilation techniques, and machine learning applications for environmental monitoring.
	Proven track record of publications in peer-reviewed journals.
	Programming skills (e.g., Python, R, MATLAB) and experience with GIS and remote sensing software (e.g., Google Earth Engine, ArcGIS).
	Strong analytical, communication, and writing skills.


Preferred Skills


	Good programming skills are mandatory.
	Experience with crop modeling and the impact of climate variability on agriculture.
	Familiarity with drought indices such as SPI, SPEI, or SMI, and knowledge of water resource management.
	Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary research environment.
	Strong knowledge of remote sensing and satellite data processing.
	Expertise in geospatial analysis (using software like ArcGIS, QGIS, Python, or MATLAB).
	Familiarity with cloud computing platforms for EO data analysis (e.g., Google Earth Engine, AWS).
