Jerash Private University was established in 1992. It was approved by the Ministry of Higher Education as the first private university in northern Jordan.
The university is located in Jerash, the capital and largest city of the Jerash Governorate in northern Jordan.
There are 12 faculties within the university: arts, business, science, Sharia, law, agriculture, pharmacy, applied medical sciences, educational science, nursing, engineering, and information technology. Each faculty is divided into several departments, which offer a variety of both undergraduate and graduate degree programmes.
The university¡¯s Language Centre provides courses in Arabic for non-native speakers from different nationalities. It also aims to expand its relations with local and international higher education institutions to develop its courses and administrate international exams such as TOEFL, iBT and IELTS.
The International Student Affairs Department is responsible for ensuring that international students feel welcomed and supported while studying at the university. The department offers guidance to students particularly in their first few weeks and helps them overcome any obstacles they may face during their time at Jerash. Meanwhile, the university¡¯s own students are encouraged to study abroad at one of its partner institutions as part of the student exchange programme.
