Karaganda Economic University of Kazpotrebsouz has roots dating back to 1966, when it was established as the Karaganda Cooperative Institute of Centrosoyuz. In 1997, the institution was given university status and was consequently renamed.
Students can study a variety of undergraduate, postgraduate and PhD programmes within a range of faculties, including: economics, management and entrepreneurship; business, law and technology, finance, logistics and digital technologies; and distance learning.
Establishing itself as a research institution, Karaganda Economic University now has two research institutes and two scientific offices. These aim to house scientific and innovative projects of students and faculty.
There are a wide range of clubs and societies on offer for students to join. For instance, students can join the comedy club where students are able to take part in competitions, or the literary club where students can attend literary evenings dedicated to famous Kazakh and foreign writers and poets. There¡¯s also a student theatre club, debate team and sports clubs.
The university also has partnerships with around 70 universities worldwide offering students the chance to spend a year studying abroad. These partnerships have also paved the way for faculty exchange and advanced research opportunities.
Karaganda Economic University is part of several international associations, including: International Association of Universities, Magna Charta Universitatum, Association of Educational Institutions Educational Network (EdNet), Law Universities Association, and the Association of Eurasian Economic Universities.
