Kherson State Agrarian and Economic University is one of the oldest institutions in Ukraine, tracing its roots to formation as Kherson Zemstvo Agrarian College in 1874 before attaining university status in 1998 and adding "Economic" to its name in 2020.
Students can study within faculties of agronomy; biology and technology; architecture and construction; economics, and fisheries and nature.
Vocational training in plant production, farming organisation and technology are offered though the former Skardovsky Agrarian Vocational College, which has been part of the university since 1997.
Specialist schools include the Breeding and Seeding of Agrarian Crops Institute founded in 1987 while there are others devoted to aquaculture and irrigation and the finance and economics of agriculture in Ukraine.
