Description

We are inviting applications for a Post-Doctoral Associate in the Division of Social Science at NYU Abu Dhabi from individuals who have or will soon receive a PhD in Economics. The appointment will begin September 1, 2025, subject to final budget approval. The appointment will last 2-3 years.

The post-doctoral associate will spend half their time on independent research, and half of their time on collaborative research with Dr. Wifag Adnan. The collaborative research will fall under the general field of Applied Microeconomics with a range of topics including inequality, market power, immigration, race, identity, illicit behavior and misinformation.

We seek a candidate whose fields of specialization include Labor/Public/Political Economy and who is interested in developed and developing economy settings. Advanced training in statistical packages, econometrics and programming is essential and a robust understanding of economic theory and modelling is welcome.?

The position does not require teaching, but it may be possible to get teaching experience for compensation.

The Position

The Provost is appointed by the University Council and is accountable to the Council through the Vice-Chancellor and President. As the deputy to the Vice-Chancellor and President, the Provost serves as the chief academic officer of the University.? Working closely with the Vice-Chancellor and President, the Provost will lead strategic planning for excellence in education and research, assume overall responsibilities for the academic and research functions of the University, oversee academic budgeting, and direct proactive recruitment and retention of academic staff of the highest international standards.? About the Role

The Research Fellow, Health Economics will provide health economics expertise to a range of (externally) funded projects to determine if research outputs are economically viable. This position will be expected to produce high quality research outputs. The Research Fellow, Health Economics will assist with the preparation of research proposals, and will be expected to provide input into decisions about future studies, including the sourcing of potential funds and the development of grant applications. This position may also supervise or co-supervise major honours or postgraduate research projects within the research area.

Who We Are Looking For

The ideal candidate for this role is one with a demonstrated ability to conduct quantitative research and publish outcomes in high-quality peer-reviewed journals. You should possess strong quantitative research skills, including econometrics, data analytics, and statistics. Experience in contributing to peer-reviewed publications and conference presentations is essential. Additionally, you should have the ability to work independently and collaboratively within a research team to achieve project goals and meet deadlines.

You will also have:


	Postgraduate / PhD qualifications in health economics, health services research, economics, or econometrics
	Demonstrated high level communication skills and capacity to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment
	Research experience with health economic evaluation, health technology assessment, and/or discrete choice experiments.is desirable

The Role

We seek a highly motivated exercise/sports scientist to join our department as Senior Lecturer or Associate Professor for appointment to the Research and Teaching (comprehensive) job family. You will have expertise in teaching and/or research in motor control and learning / skill acquisition and be able to contribute to one or more of the other sub-disciplines of exercise and sports science of biomechanics, exercise physiology, sports psychology and/or exercise prescription.

Reporting to the Head of Department, the comprehensive Teaching and Research Academic will be expected to actively engage in a research program, contribute to the teaching of exercise and sports science at undergraduate level, supervise higher degree research students, and fulfil service roles to the Department and/or Faculty.

About You

You will be actively engaged in exercise and sports science, research and/or education, with expertise in motor control and learning / skill acquisition; you may also be able to contribute to the other sub-disciplines of exercise and sports science. You will have experience with, or a willingness to embrace, educational technology, blended learning and educational innovation. In addition, ideally you will be able to demonstrate an understanding of the integration between research/practice and quality teaching, and how this integration can enhance student engagement.

The Faculty of Medicine, Health and Human Sciences (FMHHS) is ambitiously pushing the boundaries of progressive thinking and challenging what's possible to solve some of the big issues of our time, both nationally and on a global scale.

The Faculty's current education suite includes courses in exercise and sports science, clinical science, physiotherapy, medicine and public health, psychology, cognitive sciences, linguistics, audiology, and speech pathology.
