About Us

The Schools of?Basic & Medical Biosciences?(BMBS) and?Cancer & Pharmaceutical Sciences?(CPS)?are seeking a Grade 3 Technician to provide washing up and autoclaving services to two busy departments on the Guy’s campus.? The Randall Centre for Cell and Molecular Biophysics is the largest department in BMBS with research focused on fundamental biophysical processes for example cell motility, muscle signalling and developmental biology.? Researchers study the role of these processes in medical conditions including allergy, asthma, cardiovascular disease and cancer, often working together in collaboration with colleagues in other Departments/Schools, such as the Comprehensive Cancer Centre (CCC) which is part of CPS and is co-located with the Randall in New Hunt’s House.? The role will be based in the?Faculty of Life Sciences and Medicine.

About the role

The post holder will be part of a wider technical team providing high quality technical support within Randall (75%) and CCC (25%). They will use their technical and practical skills to carry out a range of laboratory tasks that are essential to ensure the smooth delivery of research in a busy environment.

A key element of the post is to lead on the provision of an efficient glass-washing and autoclaving service, including sterilisation of research materials and the inactivation of Genetically Modified waste. They will manage their workload effectively to ensure a continuous service that supports the work of the researchers.? They will also play an active role in the provision of consumable products, placing internal orders and collecting goods from the Guy’s campus store, replenishing stock room areas, dealing with deliveries, ensuring correct storage of temperature sensitive items and notifying recipients of their arrival.

The ideal candidate will be a dependable team player, able to work well as part of the wider technical team to deliver a comprehensive technical service. They will be expected to contribute to a number of technical objectives including but not limited to, health and safety compliance, good laboratory practice, maintenance of equipment and interactions with external stakeholders (engineers, delivery staff, maintenance and security personnel etc.)

The position is suitable for someone with experience of manual handling activities and operating autoclave/glass washing machinery. They will have a strong desire to work in a service delivery role.

This is a full-time post (35 Hours per week), and you will be offered an indefinite contract.??The nature of the role means that it has to be performed on site.

To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:

Essential criteria


	Minimum level 3 qualification, e.g. A levels, AS levels, International Baccalaureate diploma or other Level 3 qualification, plus work experience in a relevant technical/scientific post(s) OR Knowledge and skills gained through work experience in relevant technical or scientific posts
	Knowledge of a range of technical or practical skills and procedures and their impact on the environment
	Evidence of an active commitment to skills and knowledge development through vocational training and on-the-job experience
	Solutions-focused self-starter, with good prioritisation and organisational skills
	Clear spoken and written communication skills, with competent computer use and strong interpersonal and influencing/behavioural skills
	Flexible team-worker who is responsive to colleagues
	An understanding of Health & Safety regulations governing area of work, particularly relating to laboratory waste disposal and recycling
	Experience of working in a service providing role


Desirable criteria


	Manual handling experience and/or training
	Experience in a role involving the purchasing and the delivery of orders and post to departments and/or reporting and facilitating maintenance/repair works
	Experience in supervising/advising less experienced colleagues, monitoring, and providing feedback on performance
	Able and willing to provide support beyond core hours as required

The faculty Bursar of the MU Faculty of Medicine announces a?selection procedure for the position of Postdoc in?The Biology of Primary Cilia Signaling?at the Department of Biology, MED MUNI

Description of the lab

Primary cilia are organelles with important functions in cellular signaling, morphogenesis and homeostasis. Mutations in genes that regulate cilia architecture or function result in disorders called ciliopathies. The ciliopathies comprise developmental syndromes, and also postnatal homeostatic disorders including cancer.?In the research lab of Dr. Michaela Bosakova?we focus on understanding the molecular mechanisms by which cilia are formed and used by protein kinases and signaling pathways (published work). Our ultimate goal is to comprehend the pathogenesis of selected ciliopathies, and contribute to development of their therapies.

The project and responsibilities

The selected applicant will lead a?project that aims to target ciliary signaling in glioblastoma, which is one of the deadliest cancers with very limited treatment options. The approaches used in the project will comprise mainly establishment of primary cultures, CRISPR/Cas9 genome editing, cell and tissue imaging, and cell signaling experiments. Beyond the research tools and technology available in the lab and the hosting department, they will have access to the state-of-the-art instrumentation and services at the MUNI University campus core facilities. They will also participate in projects of other group members, including PhD and master students.

Qualifications:


	PhD degree in the field of cell biology or similar
	Significant, published experience with primary cilia research and/or cell signaling
	Hands-on experience with CRISPR/Cas9 genome editing is a?great advantage
	Ability to work independently allied with a?strong team spirit, scientific creativity, and motivation
	Good communication in English

The Role

In this role, you will bring your skills and experience in teaching acting to guide students through a comprehensive training program that prepares them for theatre and screen work. You’ll direct both in-class projects and public productions, providing hands-on, real-world experience. Your expertise in the performing arts industry will ensure that the course reflects best practices, while your ability to work with diverse age groups and experience levels will be key to fostering an inclusive learning environment.

Key Criteria


	A completed Certificate IV in Training & Assessment or the ability to complete the Certificate IV in Training & Assessment by January 2025. Other relevant tertiary qualifications are beneficial but not required.
	A proven track-record as a teacher or actor-trainer in a formal educational setting.
	Demonstrated capacity to develop, coordinate and review teaching curriculum in acting and performance at a tertiary level in relation to VET best practice.
	Demonstrated experience in working efficiently and confidently with teaching-related administration such as curriculum documentation, Canvas or similar learning and teaching technology, assessment management, or producing creative projects with young artists.
	Evidenced experience as a practitioner in the local or national industry.
	Demonstrated capacity to engage with the performing arts sector locally and nationally to enhance the quality of the student experience.
	Demonstrated ability to draw on lived experience as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person to enrich curriculum and engage meaningfully with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, ensuring culturally respectful and authentic contributions to teaching and learning.

Several exciting opportunities have arisen for Electrical and Senior Electrical Technicians to join the newly-restructured Maintenance Services team at the University of Surrey.

Working as part of a team responsible for the operational maintenance of University premises, you will be undertaking planned and reactive work on electrical systems to support the University’s infrastructure and environmental control systems across all our premises, ensuring that they are maintained in a safe, efficient, and functional order.

Key Responsibilities include:


	Maintain all electrical systems, including statutory inspection and testing where required, to meet current legislative requirements.
	Ensure failing plant or assets are reported to the Helpdesk and plant areas are maintained in good condition.
	Deliver an effective and timely response to maintenance demands across the University in a timely and cost-effective manner.

	Carry out multi-skilled tasks such as mechanical isolation and fault finding, minor carpentry, redecoration repairs linked to maintenance work.


For the senior role,?you’ll need good planning, organising and prioritising skills, and will be expected to tackle more complex tasks, take on additional responsibilities and communicate effectively at a senior level.

The post holder may be required to support out of hours rotas as required by the SSM (Service Support Manager) to ensure operational effectiveness and business continuity.

Position Information:

We invite applicants for a full-time position of non-tenure-track Lecturer in Economics to begin?Fall 2025?(August 16, 2025).

The successful candidate will be capable of teaching economics courses of various sizes and must demonstrate respect for diverse student learning needs and employ adaptable teaching methods to meet those needs. The candidate should be able to teach all introductory-level economics courses and will be preferred if they can also teach practical MBA-level courses such as managerial economics, quantitative methods, and data analysis in economics.

A Lecturer is a full-time, 10-month employee who teaches 30 credits per year and provides student and learning support services during the assigned period.
