The role

We’re looking for a new Executive Director for Research and Innovation - a key strategic leadership role within the Division of Research, Enterprise and Innovation. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer and Registrar, you will guide the research and innovation strategy to enhance our institution’s reputation and impact, cementing us firmly into the world’s top 50 research-intensive universities. As a critical member of our Professional Services Leadership group, you’ll collaborate closely with senior academic and administrative leaders, shaping a unified and ambitious approach to research excellence.

What will you be doing?

In this role, you will:


	Lead the university’s initiatives to scale, innovate, and improve research quality and outcomes, aligning with strategic UK and global societal goals.
	Foster a collaborative culture across faculties, promoting shared goals and breaking down barriers to effective strategic delivery.
	Oversee and continuously improve the activities of the Research, Enterprise, and Innovation Division, creating impactful programs and partnerships.
	Drive the sustainable growth of research, including securing funding, enhancing knowledge exchange, and expanding enterprise initiatives.
	Represent the university externally to stakeholders and policymakers, both nationally and internationally, as a champion of our research impact.
	Guide the strategic development and financial planning of the division, ensuring resources are effectively managed to maximize outcomes.
	Lead a culture of continuous improvement and professional development within the team, ensuring high standards and staff wellbeing.

The School of Natural Sciences is looking to appoint a Level A (Associate Lecturer) Teaching and Research Academic in the field of Evolutionary and Developmental Biology. This is a 4-year fixed-term position (replacing staff on secondment) aimed at growing and strengthening research in these fields.

Key strengths of the School of Natural Sciences include access to a world class wildlife research facility, allowing for the use of Australian wildlife models for investigating key questions in evolutionary and developmental biology, as well as world class multi-omics, molecular biology, and tissue culture facilities in modern purpose-built research laboratories.

The successful applicant will also help to train the next generation of biological and biomedical scientists through undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and supervision, with ample opportunities to build their career as a balanced academic. The School is particularly interested in researchers with a capacity for and interest in teaching into the field of evolutionary medicine. Courses relevant to this position include the Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Medical Science.

	A PhD in Evolutionary Biology or a closely related discipline in the biological sciences
	Demonstrated track record of research excellence in developmental and evolutionary biology as evidenced by high quality publications, awards, fellowships, and/or competitive grant funding
	Demonstrated capacity to use cutting edge techniques in developmental biology and genomics, such as single cell transcriptomics or pan-genomics
	Capacity to apply for and secure competitive research funding
	Developing a network of relationships with international collaborators
	Demonstrated track record or ability to teach genetics and evolutionary medicine, including laboratory-based practical classes, tutorials, and lecture delivery
	Excellent time management, written and oral communication skills, and collegiality
	Evidence of service and leadership, to your discipline, academia, and the wider community


Salary package: From $106,089 (Level A, Step 6) to $113,697 (Level A, Step 8) per annum, plus 17% employer superannuation. Appointment level will be determined based on successful candidate's experience and skills.

About the Role

The Lecturer in Industrial Design is expected to contribute to the teaching and research efforts of the School, in the discipline of industrial design. More specifically, the Lecturer is responsible for carrying out teaching activities within undergraduate, Masters and Graduate Diploma programs and for maintaining and advancing their scholarly, research and/or professional capabilities.

The Lecturer is also expected to actively promote and support the program(s) by establishing and maintaining memberships, links and partnerships with academic, industry and professional communities. The Lecturer is expected to work collaboratively and collegially with fellow academics within the teaching team, and update colleagues and students on developments in their subject area or specialisation.

To be successful in this position, you will have:


	Demonstrated ability to prepare and deliver programs at undergraduate and post-graduate levels, including online delivery, and the ability to produce high quality curriculum or program materials.
	Ability to undertake course coordination role.
	Demonstrated capacity to work effectively with and to negotiate sensitively with students especially on issues related to effective learning.
	Emerging track record and recognition for quality research outputs which will contribute to existing Discipline and School research areas evidenced by publications, design works, awards, development of new research initiatives, competitive research funding, and industry links.
	Demonstrated ability to supervise higher degree by research and honours candidates.

About School of Engineering, Design and Built Environment

Our school offers a diverse range of undergraduate and postgraduate programs in Industrial Design, Architecture, Construction Management, and Engineering, integrating advanced academic knowledge with practical training. About the role

We are seeking a forward-thinking, dynamic, and innovative scholar to join our team as a Associate Professor in Industrial Design. This pivotal role involves leading all Industrial Design programs, fostering research and teaching connections with Architecture, and promoting multi-disciplinary collaboration across the school, including Construction Management, Engineering, and Urban Transformation. The successful candidate will work closely with the Chair of Architecture and Design and the DAP of Architecture and Industrial Design to enhance the program’s positioning, attract key staff and students, and drive the growth of Industrial Design research. Additionally, this role will play a crucial part in establishing an interdisciplinary Design research program that leverages the strategic potential of Western Sydney and aligns with the UN Sustainable Development Goals. The successful candidate will possess a PhD in Design or a related field, coupled with outstanding professional experience and highly regarded research in industrial and/or multi-disciplinary design fields. They will be an accomplished Industrial Designer with significant global achievements and a proven track record of providing professional leadership and advice. Experience in leading curriculum accreditation with relevant professional bodies is essential. The candidate will demonstrate leadership and innovation in contemporary curriculum design, development, delivery, and assessment, with evidence of teaching quality and successful supervision of Masters and PhD candidates. An internationally competitive research profile, evidenced by substantial research funding, high-quality scholarly publications, and impactful research outcomes, is required.
