As tens of thousands of students in England receive their A-level results this week, the annual scramble for university places for those who miss their grades, known as clearing, begins.
After last year¡¯s results day, 345 universities had more than 34,000 courses available through clearing and 57,100 students were accepted on to courses through the clearing process.
