The University of St Andrews Business School invites applications for the position of Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Strategy. The successful candidate will join the Business School at an exciting time. The successful candidate will be a Strategy scholar with an international research reputation who can contribute to the School's world-leading and interdisciplinary research agenda, addressing themes such as sustainability, innovation and leadership in a complex geopolitical landscape. They will be successful in publishing research, attracting research funding or other financial support and promoting knowledge exchange to strengthen the School's reputation for academic excellence. They must also be an excellent teacher, capable of teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students from diverse backgrounds. The successful candidate will also actively engage in purposeful partnerships with academic, public, private and third-sector organisations to drive impactful research and enhance the student experience. An understanding of scenario planning and futures thinking is desirable but not essential.

Candidates will hold a PhD in a cognate discipline. The School will consider applications from candidates who have submitted their PhD thesis at the time of application and have the viva scheduled to take place before the role start date. Your workplace:

As a Senior Lecturer, you will be employed in the field of programming languages. You will primarily organise and lead introductory and in-depth courses in the areas of programming as well as concepts and theoretical foundations of programming languages.

The position can also be filled on a part-time basis (20 hours/week).

The employment level of 40 hours/week includes an average teaching commitment of 14 semester hours per week of academic teaching, with an employment level of 20 hours/week an average of 7 semester hours per week of academic teaching.

Your future tasks:

You actively participate in scientific teaching, research & administration, which means:


	You will independently lead courses at Bachelor's and Master's level, develop them in line with the current state of research and coordinate their content with the other courses in the curricula.
	You will make an active contribution to the (further) development of course and examination formats, help to determine the requirements for the necessary technical infrastructure and coordinate these with the relevant bodies.
	We expect from you the ongoing reception of the current state of science as well as continuing didactic training.
	In addition, the assumption of administrative tasks, especially in the administration of teaching, is part of the job profile.

The Strategic Outreach and Marketing Officer in the Admissions and Student Recruitment Office at Maynooth University will play a key role in enhancing the University’s brand presence, expanding domestic outreach, and supporting student recruitment objectives through innovative and data-driven marketing and engagement strategies. Reporting to the Undergraduate (UG) Student Recruitment Manager, the Officer will contribute to the University’s strategic growth by leading initiatives across schools, colleges of further education, and career exhibitions.

They will be responsible for supporting the Undergraduate Student Recruitment Manager in creating and executing a strategic recruitment plan for domestic growth. This includes developing targeted outreach and marketing campaigns that enhance the University’s presence in schools, colleges of further education, and career exhibitions. The Officer will lead the Schools Liaison programme (including the School Visits and Career Exhibition calendar), ensuring alignment with the University’s strategic objectives and effective execution of recruitment initiatives across key regions. They will coordinate a comprehensive calendar of events, identifying opportunities to strengthen engagement and strategically target areas for growth.

In addition to event and programme coordination, the Officer will use historical data to design and refine recruitment strategies, tracking outcomes to enhance impact. They will also collaborate closely with the Communications and Marketing Office and external agencies to manage annual undergraduate recruitment campaigns. Relationship-building with external stakeholders, including schools and guidance counselors, is a critical part of the role, as is overseeing key outreach activities such as career fairs and the schools outreach programme.

This dynamic role requires a highly organised, strategic thinker with experience in marketing, stakeholder engagement, outreach coordination, and leadership, ideally within the context of education or recruitment. The Schools, Outreach, and Marketing Officer will be a crucial contributor to the University's growth strategy, representing Maynooth University to prospective students and influencers across Ireland.

Salary:

Administrative Officer (2024):? €57,484 – €82,017 p.a. (9 points)

Qualifications


	A PhD degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Telecommunication Engineering, or related disciplines;?
	Candidates should have considerable experience in academic development planning and research development, and be excellence in teaching, research and service with outstanding academic leadership skills for research and development;
	A distinguished record of internationally-recognized research;
	Substantial experience in securing research funding;
	Strong communication and interpersonal skills;
	English is the working language, while knowledge in Chinese/Portuguese will be an advantage.

Remuneration

A taxable annual remuneration starting from MOP1,250,200 (approximately USD154,350) will be commensurate with the successful applicants’ academic qualification and relevant professional experience. The current local maximum income tax rate is 12% but is effectively around 5% - 7% after various discretionary exemptions.
