Introduction

The Department of Cognitive Sciences at the United Arab Emirates University invites applications for faculty positions in Psychology at the levels of instructor and assistant/associate professor. The area of specialization is open but applicants with proven expertise in the fields of Clinical Psychology, Developmental Psychology, or Cross-Cultural Psychology are encouraged to apply. Candidates must have a strong research background and/or an established program of research with evidence of high-quality publications in Scopus linked journals.

The Psychology Program

The psychology program which is part of the Department of Cognitive Sciences at UAEU is dynamic and diverse, with excellent research facilities. The program has recently expanded the number of course offerings to students and we seek a collegial and talented colleague to bring the enhanced program to fruition. Research strengths of the program include neuroscience, cognitive psychology, clinical psychology, school psychology and psychometric assessment.

The University

The UAEU is located in Al Ain city (Emirate of Abu Dhabi), on the border with Oman and about 1.5 hours’ drive from the cities of Dubai and Abu Dhabi. The UAEU offers an attractive tax-free salary, free housing, medical insurance, and annual return airfares to the country of origin for expatriate employees and their immediate families. There is also a modest relocation allowance, in addition to other benefits including an education subsidy for children.

Start Date

The successful candidate will be expected to commence work at UAEU in August 2025 or as soon as possible thereafter.

Minimum Qualification

Assistant/Associate Professor Position (Position Number 311380)

Applicants must have earned a bachelor’s and a relevant doctoral degree in psychology from an internationally reputable university.

Instructor Position (Position Number 329630)

Applicants must have earned a minimum master’s degree in psychology from an internationally reputable university.

Applicants at all levels must have (a) a proven track record of research publications in accredited peer-reviewed scientific journals commensurate with career stage and (b) a proven record of effective teaching experience at undergraduate level.

Preferred Additional Qualifications

Preference may be given to applicants who (1) have completed recognized professional development courses in the provision of third level education and (2) relevant practical experience in the fields of clinical psychology (leading to licensure), developmental psychology, or cross-cultural Psychology.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate is expected to:

Provide high quality instruction to undergraduate students.

Conduct and publish high quality research within an area of their professional interest.

Present research at national and international conferences.

Serve on internal department, college and university committees.

Engage in activities that will promote department excellence at national and international levels.

As the language of instruction at UAEU is English, applicants need to have native or near-native fluency in English.

Job description key points:

The position is focused on both teaching and research. The candidates are expected to carry out research of excellent quality in areas close to computer networks and/or?cybersecurity. They should be provably capable of successfully applying for research grant projects. The candidates should be able to prepare and deliver lectures and tutorials in courses from both computer networks and cybersecurity at the bachelor as well as master level within the study programs of the Faculty of Informatics of Masaryk University (FI MU):?https://www.fi.muni.cz/catalogue-current/?all=1&lang=en. They should be willing and capable of taking full responsibility of some of such courses. The candidates should also show a?large amount of flexibility in teaching subjects that are not directly related to their particular areas of research. The?candidates?should be ready to supervise undergraduate as well as graduate students too. Finally, the candidates should be willing and have the potential to advance to an associate professor level in a?not too far future.

The successful candidate must have:


	PhD in computer science;
	existing track record in?research;
	experience in teaching and in attracting grant projects;
	passion for problem-solving and desire to work with students;
	dynamic, flexible personality, ability to work well in teams;
	fluency in English (both spoken and written); other language(s) are welcome;
	experience from other countries than the Czech and Slovak Republics (at least one?year).


Desired skills and achievements:


	PhD thesis and/or subsequent research in computer networks or cybersecurity;?
	at least some publications with co-authors from outside of the Czech and Slovak Republics;
	ability to work well in interdisciplinary teams.

About the role

This role is the at the heart of the visual content created by the Fundraising and Alumni Communications team. As well as practical creation of visual content - ranging from photography and basic animation to video editing and commissioning assets – this role will be instrumental in the development and application of visual branding across the department.

The post holder will have the opportunity to work across a variety of channels, from websites to print and social media to video.

This is a full time post (35 hours per week), and you will be offered an indefinite contract.

P&D has a hybrid working approach, with a minimum of 40% of time in the office. Typically, this equates to two days per week, but we’re very happy for colleagues to be in more frequently if they so wish.

The?Sustainable and Innovative Transport Demand?(SIT-D)?Laboratory in the?Division of Engineering, New York University Abu Dhabi, seeks to recruit three Post-Doctoral Associates to work on a large project on the use of?Immersive Virtual Reality to study users’ preferences for innovative transport systems. The successful applicants will drive fascinating sub-projects on the following areas:


	Setting the immersive virtual reality experiment, building the choice experiment, managing and running the field experiment, analyzing the data and estimating users’ preferences for Automated Taxis. Successful applicants must have a PhD in a field related to survey methods techniques and transport demand modelling and demonstrated?experience with state choice experiments, discrete choice models, virtual reality, and data collection.
	Building the immersive virtual reality environment for Abu Dhabi, including the movement of vehicles and the interaction of avatars, collaborating to the field experiment, analyzing the data on dynamics in individual behaviors. Successful applicants must have a PhD in computer science, digital technology, mathematics, or related fields with demonstrated experience in developing XR simulations using the Unity platform or Unreal Engine, use of 3D model building tools, such as Autodesk Rivot or BIM tools and hardware experience in setting up XR headsets and custom play-areas.
	Forecasting the potential demand for?innovative transport systems, integrating substitution and diffusion models,?incorporating dynamic preferences and social conformity. The project involves estimation of substitution models using large dataset,?successful applicants must then have a PhD and demonstrated experience in discrete choice models, machine learning techniques, big data, and optimization.

About the opportunity

The Examination Logistics Officer works with the Exams Office in Student Administration Services (SAS) and will take a hands-on approach facilitating the efficient running of examinations in accordance with the policy and procedures of the University.

The Examination Logistics Officer will primarily assist with the packing and/or logistics of centrally managed examinations. In this role, you will be required to provide support services to the examinations office in the formal exam sessions, providing timely and secure distribution of examination papers and associated materials. Operating within a high volume and demand-driven service environment, the Examinations Logistics Officer works closely with staff in the Examinations Office to support and deliver an efficient and effective exam experience to students.

We are seeking multiple Examination Logistics Officers to take on packing, room attendant or driving responsibilities for the upcoming examination period, which will run from 10th - 21st June 2025.

Please outline your preference/specialisation across packing, room attendant and/or driving in your application or cover letter. This role is ideal for an individual with flexible and full availability over this 2-week period (evening and weekend shifts also available).

If successful, you will also be required to undertake online training components from 19th May 2025. There will be an on-site training day Tuesday 3rd June  - Please ensure you are available on this day.

Your key responsibilities


	receive and forward examinations papers and associated materials in accordance with university procedures and security
	monitor exam supervisor sign on sheets and advise examinations office of issues
	set up of examination venues, including paperwork and computer equipment, receiving, and checking computer systems to facilitate the efficient delivery of computer-based examinations on campus
	ensure that exam papers and supporting materials are secure at all times
	assist exam supervisors with transporting exam papers and/or materials
	check, sort, collate and pack highly confidential and high volumes of exam papers with a high level of security and accuracy, within strict turn-around times and in compliance with University policies, rules, and guidelines
	prepare and accurately distribute, collect, and validate exam materials and venue boxes to venues within precinct
	under the direction of the examination office and/or relevant team leader, support the activities of the portfolio to ensure compliance and service excellence to students and staff
	complete reports for any incidents in accordance with University policy and procedure
	perform work activities relevant to the role's key accountabilities as approved by the Exams Coordination Officer and commensurate to the role's classification level.
