Pavlo Tychyna Uman State Pedagogical University has a history that dates back to 1930 when the Institute of Social Education was established. In 1933 the institute became Pedagogical Institute and two years later it was renamed Teachers¡¯ Institute. In 1952 it became Uman State Pedagogical Institute and in 1998 it gained full university status and was renamed Pavlo Tychyna Uman State Pedagogical University.
The university is located in Uman, a city in central Ukraine.
The university consists of 11 faculties: history, preschool and special education, engineering and pedagogical education, foreign languages, arts, social and psychological education, Ukrainian philology, physics, mathematics and informatics, physical education, primary education and natural sciences. Within each faculty are different departments offering both undergraduate and graduate degree programmes.
There is also the Institute of Economics and Business Education, which is divided into four departments: finance, accounting and economic security, economy and socio-behavioural sciences, marketing and business management, and technology and organisation of tourism, hotel and restaurant business.
The International Cooperation Team is responsible for overseeing the university¡¯s international activity. The university has developed partnerships with higher education institutions in countries such as Greece, Lithuania, Poland, the US, and Turkey. These partnerships facilitate academic and scientific collaborations as well as student exchange programmes.
