The School of Psychology at the University of Southampton is seeking to appoint a clinician for 2 days a week (one of which must be a Monday) to support education and research across our Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (Dclin).?

We welcome applications from academic clinical psychologists in any area of clinical psychology, psychopathology, and/or neuroscience that will complement our basic and translational research and education into mental health:?https://www.southampton.ac.uk/psychology/research/centres/centre-for-innovation-in-mental-health.page.?

You will be part of an innovative and dynamic clinical psychology and contribute to postgraduate and undergraduate teaching and supervision.?

The Clinical Psychology Doctoral Programme at the University of Southampton are committed to the scientist-practitioner model, are firmly rooted in the core values of the NHS Constitution and have over 30 years' experience in clinical training in partnership with our local NHS Trusts and related organisations. Two different employment pathways are available: education-led or balanced across research and education. ?Clinical psychologists with expertise in teaching clinical skills and the aspiration to develop their research can apply to work on an education pathway. This will provide an opportunity to build a research portfolio that complements current research activity in the school. Alternatively, applicants with a growing national/international research track record, evidenced by publications/grant applications, can apply to work on a balanced pathway.

Our School has expertise in developmental and applied psychopathology, psychological interventions across the lifespan and affective neuroscience. The School of Psychology at Southampton is recognised for producing world-leading, high-impact research, supported by excellent research facilities (REF2014).?

Our School is one of the largest providers of postgraduate research and clinical training in the UK, offering a range of MSc programmes (Clinical, Health, Research Methods), research doctorates (PhD), Doctoral Programmes in Clinical Psychology (DClin) and Educational Psychology (DEdPsy), and training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT).?

Your personal sphere of influence:

The Chair of Technology and Innovation Management conducts research covering the emergence, development, and commercialization of new ideas and inventions. We try to better understand how various incentive mechanisms, different forms of organizing as well as characteristics of individuals and organizations and their environment influence their innovation activities. The topics of courses offered are aligned with these research topics and are mostly targeting master students.
You will have the opportunity to develop your research topics and to collaborate on existing projects. In terms of methodology, our work is predominantly quantitative, using methods of applied econometrics and increasingly also machine learning. Large data sets typically form the basis of our analyses. You will work with colleagues who are internationally well-connected and regularly publish in top international journals.

The employment duration is?4?years. Initially limited to 1.5 years, the employment relationship is automatically extended to 4 years if the employer does not terminate it within the first 12 months by submitting a non-extension declaration.

Your future tasks:

You actively participate in research, teaching & administration, which means:


	You are involved in research projects and scientific studies in the area of Technology and Innovation Management.
	We expect you to finalize your dissertation agreement within 12-18 months.
	You work on your dissertation and its completion.
	You hold courses independently within the scope of the provisions of the collective bargaining agreement.
	You take on administrative tasks in research, teaching and administration.

	Completed Master's degree or Diploma in business administration, economics, statistics or a closely related discipline (completed or close to completion - documents confirming degree completion will be necessary for formal employment)
	Interest in quantitative research methods and where applicable knowledge of database management

	Excellent command of written and spoken English (C1 Level)
	You are a team player with high social skills

About the role

We are looking for an enthusiastic Research Assistant to join a highly collaborative project as part of the Nucleic Acid Therapy Accelerator Consortium to develop machine and deep learning approaches and maintain heterogenous data supporting drug discovery and development.

?

The candidate should have strong background in deep learning and/or biomedical image analysis algorithm development and interest to employ such techniques to advanced applications in biology, digital pathology and medicine development. The specific research project requires expertise in modern methods for image segmentation and classification of large imaging data using convolutional neural networks. Experience in web-based application development is desirable.

?

This post may appeal to candidates with background in computer science or engineering interested in now developing skills and experience in biomedical research. Candidates with good experience in machine learning, bioinformatics, database management, and visualisation techniques will also be considered. The successful candidate will be joining a new group and thus this position provides an opportunity for the right candidate to be part of an exciting new venture.

This is a highly collaborative project with several institutions including Oxford University, Cambridge University, and UCL. While having prior experience in working on interdisciplinary projects would be an advantage it is not a requirement. ?

This is a full time post and you will be offered a fixed term contract until 31/10/2025.

About You

To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:

Essential criteria


	Have MSc in Artificial Intelligence, Biomedical Engineering, Computer Science, Bioinformatics, Chemoinformatic or another related area
	Excellent programming skills in Python
	Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, including the ability to write for publication, present research proposals and results, and represent the research group at meetings
	Good understanding of software testing
	Demonstrate a strong interest in interdisciplinary research
	Ability to manage own academic research and associated activities


Desirable criteria


	Experience in dealing with large image data and cloud computing
	Experience of contributing to reports and articles for publication
	Strong interest in biomedical applications
	Experience of working in a research team and contributing ideas for new research projects
	Experience of developing web applications using advanced javascript libraries

Budget and Reporting Senior Specialist is responsible for providing financial and budget analysis, reporting, modeling and forecasting to assist the Budget Office as well as providing??analysis to support funding decisions. Operational Responsibilities:


	Assist the Budget Manager with preparation, review, and analysis of the budget plans for all University departments, in consideration of the overall objectives of the University
	Provide advice and technical assistance for all aspects of budget preparation, policy, analysis, and review.
	Provide guidance to staff engaged in the compilation of statistical, fiscal, and program information for the formulation and administration of budgets and budgetary allocations, assist in training new employees.
