Prefectural University of Kumamoto is a public university found in Kumamoto, Kumamoto, Japan. It was originally set up as another school in 1947 before achieving its university status.
There are three undergraduate faculties at the university including letters, environmental and symbiotic sciences and administrative studies. The postgraduate faculties include languages and literature, environmental and symbiotic sciences and administrative studies.

The Centre for International and Education and Exchange provides support for international and domestic students in both Japanese and English. The Centre is also home to the Global Lounge where students can access foreign language resources and students can book language tutorial sessions.
