Rajamangala University of Technology Isan has a history that dates back to 1984 when the Institute of Technology and Vocational Education was established. In 1988 King Bhumipol Adulyadej renamed it Rajamangala Institute of Technology. The institute was granted full university status in 2005 and became Rajamangala University of Technology Isan.
