	A record of quality research as evidenced by publications in leading journals and at conferences commensurate with opportunity

The Department of Mathematics (MAT) of the Faculty of Science and Technology invites applications for the position of Full/Associate/Assistant Professor in the area of Statistics. This position is intended to complement and strengthen the expertise of existing staff members. We are seeking candidates with a proven track record in terms of scientific publications, and a commitment to teaching and student supervision.

MAT currently has 18 faculty members and more than 40 PhD students, their research areas cover Probability and Statistics, Financial Mathematics, Computational Mathematics, Mathematical Physics, and Analysis. The department offers Bachelor, Master and PhD degree programs. The Bachelor degree program has two streams: Applied Mathematics, Statistics and Data Science. The PhD program provides sufficient financial supports through the following funding sources: Chinese Government NSFC Funding, Macau Government FDCT PhD Funding, UM PhD Scholarship, UM PhD Assistantship.

Qualifications

Applicants must hold a PhD degree in Mathematics, Statistics or related areas; Preference will be given to candidates with a strong research record in Statistics, Applied Probability or Data Science. The department is working on developing a Master program in applied statistics.? The successful candidates are expected to contribute significantly to the program.? The candidates for appointment at the rank of Full Professor must have achieved a high level of distinction and recognition, and have made significant contributions to a related research area.

The selected candidate is expected to assume duty in March 2025.

Remuneration

A taxable annual remuneration starting from MOP1,250,200 (approx. USD154,350) for the position of Full Professor, MOP1,052,800 (approx. USD129,980) for the position of Associate Professor and MOP855,400 (approximately USD105,600) for the position of Assistant Professor will be commensurate with the successful applicants’ academic qualification and relevant professional experience. The current local maximum income tax rate is 12% but is effectively around 5% - 7% after various discretionary exemptions. Apart from competitive remuneration, UM offers a wide range of benefits, such as medical insurance, provident fund, on-campus accommodation/housing allowance and other subsidies. The Lecturer in Paramedicine will play a pivotal role in advancing teaching and learning within the Bachelor of Paramedicine programs at the College of Medicine and Public Health. The successful candidate will independently enhance the educational experience by integrating innovative teaching practices and technologies, ensuring the highest standards of excellence in both instruction and the scholarship of teaching.

About You

To be successful in this role you will exhibit:


	Clinical qualifications in paramedicine and current registration (or ability to obtain) with the Paramedicine Board of Australia (PBA)/AHPRA
	Experience with teaching and learning at a tertiary level and/or in an appropriate workplace setting, inclusive of simulation

About the Role

The Senior Lecturer will take on a leadership role in fostering excellence in teaching and learning across the Paramedicine curriculum within the College of Medicine and Public Health. This position entails making substantial contributions to both teaching leadership and the scholarship of teaching, utilizing innovative practices and technologies to enhance educational outcomes. A deep understanding of contemporary paramedicine clinical practice will be essential. Additionally, the Senior Lecturer will play a vital role in serving the College and University, contributing to a collaborative and dynamic academic environment.

About You

	Completion of a PhD and/or qualifications and equivalent clinical experience in paramedicine

The Position

This position is funded by the ARC Centre of Excellence in Optical Microcombs for Breakthrough Science, which explores societal impacts of optical frequency combs through advances in physics, materials science, and nanofabrication.

Distributed Acoustic Sensing (DAS) has recently revolutionised seismology by turning telecommunication fiber-optic cables into high-resolution ground motion sensors. This cutting-edge technology bridges the gap between traditional seismic imaging and geological samples, offering a wide range of applications.

The Postdoctoral Fellow/Research Fellow will work on the deployment, acquisition, analysis and interpretation of large DAS datasets and development of technical advances using optical frequency microcombs.? The goal is to expand the capability of our strong field-based seismic imaging research utilising DAS with new technology innovations through the ARC Centre of Excellence COMBS, and therefore understanding of the Earth’s structure and evolution.
