Slezsk¨¢ univerzita v Opav¨§ is one of the youngest universities in the Czech Republic, having been established in 1991. The university is located in the city of Opava. Opava is a centre of the historical region of Silesia, and is known for its business and culture.
The university is a member of the European University Association, and specialises in humanities and economics.
The university has three faculties: philosophy and science; public policies and mathematics. All of the faculties offer courses at undergraduate, postgraduate and doctorate levels. Courses include: geometry and global analysis, mathematical analysis, business economics and management, and theoretical physics.
Students have the opportunity to study abroad while at the institution as the university has an abundance of domestic and international partners. Partnered Institutions are based in the following countries: Ireland, Austria, Turkey, Slovenia, Poland, Vietnam, USA, Russia, Taiwan, Hungary, Japan, Germany, Denmark, China, Ukraine, Azerbaijan, Slovakia, and the Republic of Kazakhstan.
There are a plethora of sites to see, attractions to visit, and culture to explore in Opava. These include the Novy Dvur Arboretum; the oldest museum in the Czech Republic, the Silesian Museum; Vanek Hill ski resort; and Radun Chateau. The city is surrounded by natural beauty with the Opava River and mountain range.
