Stepan Gzhytskyi National University of Veterinary Medicine and Biotechnologies of Lviv?is the oldest veterinary institute of higher education in Ukraine. Its history can be traced back to 1784, when a veterinary department was set up at Lviv University. In 1994, it was renamed after Stepan Gzhytskyi, head of its biochemistry department.
Today, there are five faculties, which are divided into 35 departments. The faculties are: veterinary medicine; biology and technology; social development and health; food technologies and biotechnology; and economics and management.
The university also has two educational-research and production centres in farming towns 10km and 50km from Lviv respectively. ?
The campus is near the city centre of Lviv, in Western Ukraine. It includes a research library, a sports complex and four student dormitories with dining rooms.
The university has 42 cooperation agreements with foreign partners, and work is underway to facilitate academic mobility among students.
