About the role

This important position is responsible for raising significant philanthropic income to help advance the University. Building personal and rewarding partnerships with charitable trusts, foundations and companies, this position is crucial in connecting donors with Southampton’s fantastic research and education. Based in the Development Team, you will work alongside brilliant fundraisers who share years of experience but are eager to learn from the expertise and perspective of others. Our current fundraising priorities cover an innovative student scholarship programme and cutting-edge medical research. Exciting times are ahead as we plan our new campaign, which will introduce new projects and ensure this is a varied, enjoyable and rewarding role.

About you

You will be a confident, engaging and enthusiastic fundraiser, motivated by the impact of philanthropy. You will have demonstrable experience of securing 5/6-figure+ gifts from charitable trusts, foundations or companies and will recognise the bespoke approach required to engage with each organisation. You will be an excellent writer, with expertise in creating compelling proposals and funding applications, as well as personalised stewardship communications. With a desire to enable interesting opportunities to connect with, cultivate and steward your donors, you will be tenacious and creative in attracting new fundraising leads, ensuring ongoing philanthropic support for the University.

The Strategic Outreach and Marketing Officer in the Admissions and Student Recruitment Office at Maynooth University will play a key role in enhancing the University’s brand presence, expanding domestic outreach, and supporting student recruitment objectives through innovative and data-driven marketing and engagement strategies. Reporting to the Undergraduate (UG) Student Recruitment Manager, the Officer will contribute to the University’s strategic growth by leading initiatives across schools, colleges of further education, and career exhibitions.

They will be responsible for supporting the Undergraduate Student Recruitment Manager in creating and executing a strategic recruitment plan for domestic growth. This includes developing targeted outreach and marketing campaigns that enhance the University’s presence in schools, colleges of further education, and career exhibitions. The Officer will lead the Schools Liaison programme (including the School Visits and Career Exhibition calendar), ensuring alignment with the University’s strategic objectives and effective execution of recruitment initiatives across key regions. They will coordinate a comprehensive calendar of events, identifying opportunities to strengthen engagement and strategically target areas for growth.

In addition to event and programme coordination, the Officer will use historical data to design and refine recruitment strategies, tracking outcomes to enhance impact. They will also collaborate closely with the Communications and Marketing Office and external agencies to manage annual undergraduate recruitment campaigns. Relationship-building with external stakeholders, including schools and guidance counselors, is a critical part of the role, as is overseeing key outreach activities such as career fairs and the schools outreach programme.

This dynamic role requires a highly organised, strategic thinker with experience in marketing, stakeholder engagement, outreach coordination, and leadership, ideally within the context of education or recruitment. The Schools, Outreach, and Marketing Officer will be a crucial contributor to the University's growth strategy, representing Maynooth University to prospective students and influencers across Ireland.

Salary:

Administrative Officer (2024):? €57,484 – €82,017 p.a. (9 points)

The Centre for Research Staff Development (CRSD) provides professional development support for research staff to achieve their potential, before, during and after their time at King’s, with active support from the most senior staff in the university.

Research Staff at King’s are postdoctoral staff, research assistants, technicians and teaching fellows, in fact all those other than PhD students who are engaged in research and who do not yet have an independent, permanent academic or managerial position.

About the Role

We are looking for a new member of our team who has a strong interest in professional development, and specifically in helping a diverse body of world leading researchers to grow and be the best they can be, in university spaces and beyond. If this is you, you will work in a small team within the ?Centre for Research Staff Development, reporting to the Research Staff Development Consultant.? Within the CRSD, you will ensure all administration related to the team’s activity is handled efficiently. This includes the smooth running of the CRSD’s professional development training?programme, liaising, and building strong relationships with external facilitators and expert trainers, handling the organisation of CRSD events in-person and online, and monitoring the team’s budget.??

?

You will also work outside the CRSD with colleagues across King’s, servicing the Research Staff Representative Committee and the CRSD Oversight Group and building relationships with other professional services colleagues in all faculties and departments concerned with research and researchers. Along with maintaining accuracy in all forms of administrative monitoring across the team, you will quickly build positive working relationships with the rest of the CRSD and ensure communication across the team remains strong, to provide the best possible support for our research staff at King’s. ??

The post is offered part-time with the option of flexibility around hours to suit the needs of the postholder and the role by agreement.? As a department that delivers professional development we are fully committed to the professional development of our team.?

To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:?

	Existing or demonstrable ability to develop strong administration skills for tasks including; accurately setting up course listings, zoom meetings, maintaining the related monitoring, and the smooth planning and execution of events/training courses.?
	Excellent time management, with the ability to organise and plan effectively across competing priorities.?

About You

The Postdoctoral Research Fellow will work with research teams and partnerships in the School and Research Institutes. You will be required to undertake research activities in line with the University's research strategy. In this position you will carry out independent and/or team research which has a significant impact in the area of your specialisation and be acknowledged at a national level as being influential in expanding the knowledge of your relevant discipline.

As the Postdoctoral Research Fellow, you are expected to plan, develop and engage in high quality research projects that are aligned with the University's research focus areas. You will embed your research expertise into the life of the School through the development of high-quality, productivity-driven research networks across RMIT and with local and national, internal and external partners. You will be expected to engage in high quality research projects, to achieve success in attracting research funding and to produce high quality outputs.

To be successful in this position, you will meet the following Key Selection Criteria:


	Demonstrated capability involving lipid nanoparticles formulation and physicochemical characterisation techniques (AFM, DLS, cryo-TEM etc.).
	Evidence of experience in performing mammalian cell culture and study cell-nanoparticle interactions using various techniques (confocal imaging, flow cytometry, TEM, etc.).
	Experience in studying cell-nanoparticle interactions under dynamic flow conditions is preferred but not required.
	Emerging track record and recognition for quality research outputs
	Demonstrate experience in paper writing. Ability to independently form high quality paper drafts is essential.
	Demonstrate strong communication skills.
	Possess the ability to work autonomously whilst displaying a strong commitment to work in a team environment, including the demonstrated ability to work with colleagues confidently and effectively.
	Demonstrate ability to meet deadlines and effectively manage varying workloads and respond to changing priorities as required.
	Qualifications: PhD or equivalent in relevant field.
