About the Role

As the MD Course Director, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the coordination, curriculum delivery, and planning of the four-year Doctor of Medicine programme.

In collaboration with the Head of the Department of Medical Education, you will lead the continuous refinement of the curriculum structure and content, ensuring it aligns with advances in disciplinary knowledge, educational practices, and contemporary expectations for medical education.

Your responsibilities will include:


	Leading curriculum coordination, delivery, and planning in line with the University's Framework for Educational Excellence.
	Implementing complex course variations and chairing the Board of Examiners to ensure quality assessment and alignment with MD learning outcomes.
	Engaging with clinical schools, departments, and professional staff to operationalise the MD programme effectively.
	Providing leadership in managing student-related issues, supporting subject coordinators, and addressing academic progress or professional behaviour concerns.


Who We Are Looking For

You will possess a health professional degree registerable in Australia, along with an educational qualification or demonstrable progress towards attaining one.

Your excellent interpersonal skills and ability to establish effective working relationships across a broad research and teaching network are essential.

You have significant experience in medical and/or healthcare professional education curriculum delivery and coordination of innovative research curricula.

You will also have:


	Demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching entry-to-practice healthcare professional students.
	Strong organisational, time management, and problem-solving skills.

Postdoctoral Researchers in Electromechanics and Electrical Machines

The Computational Electromechanics Group has two open postdoctoral research positions funded by the Academy of Finland's Centre of Excellence (CoE) in High-Speed Electromechanical Energy Conversion Systems (2022–2029).

Your role

You will conduct ground-breaking research on next-generation high-speed electric machines and systems. Depending on your interest and background, we can offer you a research topic ranging from the numerical modelling of electrical machines to developing simulation methods for the whole drive system including electric and mechanical parts. You will also develop models and tools needed by our CoE partners and in cooperation with them. You will be provided possibilities to teach in master-level courses and to instruct master’s and doctoral students.

Your background and expertise

We expect you to have a recent doctoral degree in electrical engineering, mathematics, physics, or a related field. The successful candidate will have demonstrated proficiency in the following areas:


	electric machine, and numerical modelling of electromagnetic field
	mathematical model order reduction and uncertainty propagation modelling
	programming skills (ability to code in Fortran and Matlab are appreciated)
	strong command of written and spoken English


We expect you to be open-minded for new research, eager to learn more, and fit to teamwork. We also expect the candidates to have a publication record in leading journals and conferences. Please document your background and expertise in your application.

Scientific environment

The Computational Electromechanics Group (Electromechanics | Aalto University) conducts research on electric machines and the related numerical simulation of the electromagnetic field for model order reduction, optimization, and fault diagnosis. Our core competence is the development of advanced numerical methods for coupled electromagnetic problems with thermal or mechanical problems. We actively collaborate with the industry and have exhaustive experimental capabilities for material characterisation and validation of the developed methods. Our research is highly cited by other researchers and is being utilized by our industrial partners.

The Computational Electromechanics Group is leading and coordinating the CoE in High-Speed Electromechanical Energy Conversion Systems (The HiECSs Centre of Excellence | Aalto University). The world is being electrified at unparalleled pace, from transport to industrial processes and complete energy systems. As a result, there is an incomparable need for energy-, material-, and cost-efficient electric machines and powertrains. The CoE brings together the key experts in this area.

We offer

The expected starting salary for a Postdoctoral Researcher is approximately 4000 €/month and salary will increase with responsibilities and performance over time. The fixed term contract is initially for two years, with an optional extension of two additional years. The annual workload of research and teaching staff at Aalto University is currently 1612 hours. Applicants should possess a doctoral or master’s degree in Education, the Learning Sciences or a related discipline, with a strong background in technology-enhanced learning, learning design and/or learning analytics for teacher learning and pedagogical innovation. Deep knowledge of theories, practices and technological tools related to learning design and learning analytics is crucial. Familiarity with curriculum/pedagogical innovation, leadership for technology-enhanced learning, and/or digital literacy would be a clear advantage. Preference will be given to those with expertise in advanced statistical methods, such as multiple linear regression, mediation analysis, multilevel modeling, and/or latent variable models. Or those with experience in managing and analyzing large datasets, and the use of generative AI tools for research purposes. The appointee should also have a high level of writing proficiency for academic purposes and for a general audience in both English and Chinese. Good organizational skills, the ability to work independently and interdependently within a team on a tight schedule are essential to succeed in this role. Applicants with a PhD degree may be considered for appointment as a Post-doctoral Fellow. Those with other higher degrees and substantial research experience in relevant areas may be considered for appointment as a Senior Research Assistant.

The appointee will work closely with the Principal Investigator and the project team, to conduct research in a project on “Establishing an operationalizable teacher-facing model of Design Aware Learning Analytics”. The group of Radek Marek at the Central European Institute of Technology (CEITEC), Masaryk University, is looking for a?doctoral student in supramolecular chemistry. If you are passionate about studying the supramolecular properties of anticancer metallodrugs, this is the perfect opportunity for you! In particular, we explore ligand modifications and host-guest complementarity between platinum-based metallodrugs and macrocyclic carriers (cucurbiturils) and their effects on the biological response.

You will have access to a?modern chemistry lab and state-of-the-art NMR instruments at our local core facility for regular use. Comprehensive training in supramolecular and NMR techniques will be provided to the successful candidate.

The Designer Materials and Devices Group at the Department of Electronics and Nanoengineering is looking for a highly motivated?Postdoctoral Researcher?to work on Metasurfaces for Future Communications, related to a large international project "Self-Programmable Metasurface Networks for Wireless Communications and IoT".

Scientific context

6G will enable revolutionary technologies like the Internet of Everything, 3D holographic communication, robotics, Industry 4.0, and wireless brain-computer interactions. A key challenge for 6G, which will operate at sub-THz frequencies, is high signal attenuation in the atmosphere and common urban materials like concrete. To overcome this, 6G will require novel solutions such as reconfigurable intelligent surfaces (metasurfaces). These passive adjustable structures can deflect electromagnetic waves in specific directions, optimizing the wireless environment by enhancing communication without adding costly active components.

Your role and goals

As a postdoctoral researcher, you will contribute to advancing the science necessary to enable next-generation communication systems based on metasurfaces and revolutionizing communication networks and IoT. You will work on new physical mechanisms in electromagnetic wave control and design application-oriented metasurface geometries supporting human-machine interaction. You will collaborate with the multidisciplinary project team and possible industrial partners. The research methodology will have both theoretical, simulation, fabrication, and experimental components.

There are possibilities for research collaboration and extended visits to the following project partners: A. Alù (City University of New York), H. Krishnaswamy (Columbia University), M. Rinaldi (Northeastern University), and S. Shakkottai (University of Texas at Austin), Z. Sun (Aalto University), and N. Ravaja (University of Helsinki).

The expected starting date for the position is negotiable but preferably January 1, 2025 and it is intended for full-time work. The selected person will work under supervision of Assistant Professor Viktar Asadchy and Emeritus Professor Sergei Tretyakov. The successful applicant will have a possibility to cooperate with world-class researchers, publish in high-profile journals, supervise students, attend scientific conferences, and go on research visits to the external collaborators.

Your experience and ambitions?

As a successful candidate for this position, you must have:


	A doctoral (PhD) degree in electrical engineering, physics, or similar.
	Strong background in electrodynamics and excellent mathematical skills.
	Experience in metasurface or RIS design.
	Ability to generate own research ideas.
	Proficiency in electromagnetic simulation software, such as CST Studio Suite, COMSOL Multiphysics, or ANSYS HFSS and electronic design software, such as ADS.
	High proficiency in Matlab, Python, or similar programming software.
	Solid list of publications.
	Prior student advisor experience.
	High motivation, patience, and stress resistance.
	Excellent written and verbal communication, including presentation skills.
	Highly proficient English language skills.
	Excellent organizational skills, attention to details, and ability to meet deadlines.
	Willingness to learn and work collaboratively in a research environment.


Skills, knowledge, and abilities in the following areas are not required but highly desirable:


	Experience in printed electronics, RF circuit design, and antenna array theory.
	Industrial or start-up experience.
	Solid grant writing experience.
	Eligibility and willingness to apply for research funding (less than 7 years passed after the first PhD).
	Experience in machine learning or computational electromagnetics.
