University of the Immaculate Conception was founded in 1905 as the Escuela Catolica de San Pedro. It has been offering college-level courses in Davao City since 1947 when it started secretarial and pharmacy courses, followed in the 1950s by degrees in education, home economics, music and elementary education.
It attained university status in 1992 and continues to be run as a private institution by the order of the Religious of the Virgin Mary.
Its student population includes grade and high school pupils based at its Bajada campus. The main Father Selga Street campus hosts the colleges of computer science, human environment science and food studies, nursing, medical and biological science, music, pharmacy and the graduate school. The Bonifacio campus is home to accounting and business education, engineering, education and arts and humanities.
New facilities include the Molecular Biology Lab opened in March 2024 and the Marian Technical Business Incubator started in August 2023.
