The Position

This position is funded by the ARC Centre of Excellence in Optical Microcombs for Breakthrough Science, which explores societal impacts of optical frequency combs through advances in physics, materials science, and nanofabrication.

Distributed Acoustic Sensing (DAS) has recently revolutionised seismology by turning telecommunication fiber-optic cables into high-resolution ground motion sensors. This cutting-edge technology bridges the gap between traditional seismic imaging and geological samples, offering a wide range of applications.

The Postdoctoral Fellow/Research Fellow will work on the deployment, acquisition, analysis and interpretation of large DAS datasets and development of technical advances using optical frequency microcombs.? The goal is to expand the capability of our strong field-based seismic imaging research utilising DAS with new technology innovations through the ARC Centre of Excellence COMBS, and therefore understanding of the Earth’s structure and evolution.

The Postdoctoral Fellow/Research Fellow will be a member of?Research School of Earth Sciences?(RSES). RSES is Australia’s leading academic research institution for Earth and Marine Sciences, and ranked 11th in the world for Earth and Marine Sciences (QS World University Rankings by Subject 2023). About School of Engineering, Design and Built Environment

About the role

We are seeking a forward-thinking, dynamic, and innovative scholar to join our team as a Associate Professor in Industrial Design. This pivotal role involves leading all Industrial Design programs, fostering research and teaching connections with Architecture, and promoting multi-disciplinary collaboration across the school, including Construction Management, Engineering, and Urban Transformation. The Institute for Labour and Social Law is one of the leading teaching and research institutions in Austria dealing with central problems of Austrian and European labour law and law of social security. Your personal sphere of influence:

Your workplace:

As a Senior Lecturer, you will be employed in the area of IT systems engineering fundamentals. You will primarily design and lead introductory and in-depth courses on topics such as modelling methods, information systems engineering, databases, operating systems and the associated technical foundations of computer science. You will develop the courses you supervise in line with the current state of research and harmonise the content with the other courses in the curriculum. You will organise the courses according to modern didactic principles, help to determine the requirements for the necessary technical infrastructure and coordinate these with the relevant departments.

The position can also be filled on a part-time basis (20 hours/week).

The employment level of 40 hours/week includes an average teaching commitment of 14 semester hours per week of academic teaching, with an employment level of 20 hours/week an average of 7 semester hours per week of academic teaching.

You actively participate in scientific teaching, research & administration, which means:


	You will teach courses at Bachelor's and Master's level independently or together with other lecturers
	You will make an active contribution to the (further) development of course and examination formats
	We expect from you the ongoing reception of the current state of science as well as continuing didactic training. Research activities are welcome, but not mandatory.
	In addition, the assumption of administrative tasks, especially in the administration of teaching, is part of the job profile.
