Established in 1988, the University of Medea has undergone rapid growth in its facilities and areas of specialisation.
Located in Medea, a small city in north-central Algeria, the university serves as the capital of the Medea Province, situated approximately 68km south of Algiers. Nestled on a plateau in the Tell Atlas Mountains, the region is characterized by fertile soil that forms the watershed for the Chlif River and the Wadis Chiffa and Isser.
Initially offering courses in just two subject areas, technology and electrical engineering, the university has evolved to encompass six academic faculties: the faculty of literature and languages, faculty of humanities and social sciences, school of technology, faculty of economics, commercial sciences and management sciences, faculty of law and political science, and the faculty of sciences. Each faculty houses various departments, offering a wide range of degree programmes at the bachelor's, master's, and doctoral levels.
Throughout the year, the university conducts a variety of research projects within its 14 scientific research laboratories. The institution also boasts a central library with extensive knowledge resources and a well-equipped technological platform.
