The University of the Thai Chamber of Commerce is based in Bangkok, Thailand and has a long history as a private non-profit institution offering degrees in law, engineering, communication arts, science, humanities, economics, accounting and business administration.
It was established by the Thai Chamber of Commerce in 1940 to educate Thailand¡¯s young people in business disciplines, however it was closed due to World War II in 1941, then reopened in 1963.
It expanded its two-year curriculum to the standard four-year programme in 1964 and was officially accredited as a university in 1984, gaining the title of the University of the Thai Chamber of Commerce. It has maintained a close rapport with the Thai Chamber of Commerce and collaborates in a number of ways, namely that many part-time lecturers are experts in the field as business people and executives. It also serves several ASEAN countries (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) in various advisory functions.
It has 19,000 undergraduate students and 1,700 graduate students, many of whom are international. All programmes, from undergraduate to doctoral level are offered in both English and Thai. In 2010, the UTCC International College was founded and was later renamed the UTCC International School of Management, which offers an international programme purely in English at both undergraduate and postgraduate study level.
UTCC¡¯s campus is in the Din Daeng district of Bangkok, which is a bustling cosmopolitan area within the capital. Bangkok serves as a unique base to explore the rest of the country, as well as neighbouring countries, with almost all terrains and landscapes available for exploring at a very reasonable cost.
Notable alumni include the actors Phupoom Pongpanu and Nitidon Pomsuwan, as well as several other actors and prominent media figures.
