About the opportunity

The Exam Precinct and Presiding Officer works with the Exams Office in Student Administration Services (SAS) and will take a hands-on approach assisting the exams office in the efficient running of centrally managed examinations.

In this role, you will work collaboratively with a range of staff across SAS portfolio and in the wider University environment to meet work objectives. As an Exam Precinct and Presiding Officer, you will work independently under the close guidance of the Examinations Office to ensure that exam activities are completed to strict deadlines, within the rule, regulations, and procedures of the University.

We are seeking multiple Exam Precinct and Presiding Officers to take on varying tasks (outlined below) to support with exams sessions throughout the year, including the upcoming examination period, which will run from 10 - 21 June 2025. This role is ideal for an individual with flexible and full availability over this 2-week period (evening and weekend shifts also available).

If successful, you will also be required to undertake online training components from Monday 19 May. There will be mandatory on-site training days on Tuesday 3 June and Thursday 5 June, pending on which role you a selected for (breakdown of roles below) - Please ensure you are available on these days.

Exam Precinct Officer

Exam Precinct Officers are the first point of contact on the ground and are responsible for providing guidance and support to exam supervisors, service room attendants and students during examinations. On-site training day will be Tuesday 3 June May

Presiding Officer

Presiding Officers provide guidance and support to exam supervisors and students in large-capacity venues of 150+ students. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring that the exam venue runs efficiently and on time. Training will involve shadowing an experienced Presider during the exam period. On-the-job training will be from Tuesday 10 June.

Presiding Officer (Alternative Exams)

Presiding Officers provide guidance and support to exam supervisors and students with exam adjustments in a group room. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring that students' exam adjustments have been applied and that exams are running efficiently and on time. On-site training day will be Thursday 5 June.

Your key responsibilities will be to:


	actively monitor the conduct of examinations within an exams precinct or large venue to ensure exams are running effectively to University standards and procedures
	provide guidance to Exam Supervision staff regarding exam processes
	provide the first point of contact between the exam venue and the Exams Office and escalate any issues to the Exams Office
	oversee the set-up of venues, materials provided, and exam papers are correct for exam venues before exam sessions commence
	assist in the monitoring and supervision of Exam Supervisor's attendance and performance
	facilitate the ID checking processes for students who do not have appropriate ID
	respond to a range of enquiries from staff and students
	perform work activities relevant to the role's key accountabilities as approved by the Exams Coordination Officer and commensurate to the role's classification level.


About you


	previous experience with supervising/invigilating examination sessions and student administration experience in centralised examinations area within a tertiary environment
	experience in handling large volume of enquiries and administrative workload within a highly regulated area, deadline driven and customer service focused environment
	experience in the provision of excellent customer service, together with well-developed written and verbal communications skills within a strong customer service focused environment
	working knowledge of University reporting and record management systems
	advanced computer skills including the MS Office suite
	excellent attention to detail
	strong problem solving skills, the ability to use initiative, exercise sound judgement and ability to prioritise workload during busy periods.
	well developed interpersonal skills, including the demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

About the role

This role is the at the heart of the visual content created by the Fundraising and Alumni Communications team. As well as practical creation of visual content - ranging from photography and basic animation to video editing and commissioning assets – this role will be instrumental in the development and application of visual branding across the department.

The post holder will have the opportunity to work across a variety of channels, from websites to print and social media to video.

This is a full time post (35 hours per week), and you will be offered an indefinite contract.

P&D has a hybrid working approach, with a minimum of 40% of time in the office. Typically, this equates to two days per week, but we’re very happy for colleagues to be in more frequently if they so wish.

About You

Job Description

We are looking for a?motivated and curiosity-driven scientist to join our team and contribute to the exciting project “Synthetic lethal interactions of the mitochondrial integrated stress response in MYC-driven tumors” (GA25-16629S, Czech Science Foundation), integrating mitochondrial and cancer biology to advance therapies for aggressive MYC-addicted tumors. The research builds on our recent breakthrough findings (Borankova et al., Cell Death & Disease 2023) to elucidate context-specific regulators and activities of the mitochondrial integrated stress response (mitoISR) in relation to MYC oncoproteins. Using pharmacological and genetic approaches, including novel inducible MYC/MYCN models, this project aims to dissect mitoISR-mediated synthetic lethality and potentially unlock new strategies for targeting therapy-resistant MYC-driven tumors. As a?Postdoctoral Research Associate in Jan ?koda’s research group, you will work closely with other team members and will receive support for attending relevant conferences, training sessions, and scientific stays, as well as the opportunity to develop side projects to advance your scientific career.

Key Duties:

Overseeing and carrying out the development of reporter cell lines and knockout/inducible cell models, designing vectors (expression, shRNA, CRISPR-Cas9), and performing other molecular and cell biology methods to achieve project goals
Collaborating with research team members to implement and support research projects
Publishing the results and presenting them at international conferences

Skills and Qualifications

The applicant must have:


	PhD degree in molecular/cell biology, biochemistry, or genetics
	Proven experience in genetic manipulation techniques (experience in cancer biology or mitochondrial research is a?plus)
	Excellent communication skills (oral and written) in English
	Good publication record – at least two research articles in Q1/Q2 journals, with one first-author paper within the last three years
	Team-oriented and positive mindset, with a?strong drive to independently tackle scientifically challenging questions
