Victoria University was established in 2013, receiving its official charter in 2022.
VU¡¯s main campus is in the central business district of the Ugandan capital, Kampala. However, there are plans to relocate the university to a larger, more spacious campus.
There are six undergraduate faculties: science and technology; humanities and social sciences; health sciences; business and management; education and lifelong learning; and law. Courses follow the VU Block Model, which allows students to focus on one module per four-week learning block. This means that students learn one topic at a time, before being assessed on it and moving on to the next topic.
Students are provided with a career readiness and employability programme as soon as they are admitted to VU. This is later complemented with work placements, during which they can continue their academic studies online.
Co-curricular activities include football, netball, basketball and woodball (an East Asian version of croquet). The students¡¯ lounge provides a games console, pool table and table-tennis table. And social activities include a Mr and Miss VU competition, international day, fun day, movie night and an end-of-year party.
