West Virginia Wesleyan College is a private, coeducational, in Buckhannon, West Virginia, USA. It was founded in 1890 by the West Virginia Conference of the United Methodist church.
It has 1,400 students from 35 US states and 26 countries. Wesleyan¡¯s primary majors are elementary and secondary education, business, and natural sciences. The college offers over 43 undergraduate majors and 36 minors, with undergraduate degrees awarded in bachelor of arts, bachelor of science, bachelor of science in nursing, and bachelor of music education. Graduate degrees awarded include the master of science in athletic training, master of business administration, master's in education, master of fine arts in creative writing, and master of science in nursing.
Nine Wesleyan students have won Fulbright Scholarships and one student became a Mitchell Scholar. Wesleyan ranks fifth for Academic Achievement Award winners among National College Athletic Association Division II colleges and universities.
Wesleyan¡¯s student life is varied and active. It features 21 National College Athletic Association Division II teams, locally-celebrated performing arts groups, intramural sports, outdoor recreation, nine national fraternities and sororities, religious life, over 70 campus organisations, and a Centre for Community Engagement & Leadership Development.
As well as poets and writers, many WVWC alumni have gone on to play professional sports, American Football in particular. Two players, Earl "Greasy" Neale and Cliff Battles are in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
