Yala Rajabhat University was established as a university in 2004, but its origins date back to 1963 with the Teacher Training School which prepared qualified teachers for elementary and secondary schools in the southern border provinces of Thailand. The university has one main campus.
The university has four main faculties including education, humanities and social sciences, science technology and agriculture, and management science, and offer courses including: elementary education, political science, arts and design, microbiology, agriculture, and accounting.
The faculty of agriculture trains students to become professional farmers, using the training farmland at the Maelan Campus where students carry our modern farming techniques.
The US Embassy in Thailand provides exchange opportunities for students at the university, enabling them to develop their cultural appreciation and network with students from across the world. On campus at Yala Rajabhat University is the American Corner, a one-stop centre for information about the United States, in partnership with Thailand¡¯s US Embassy. The aim is to foster a mutual understanding between Thailand and the United States by stimulating dialogue through broadcasts, video conferences and books.
Yala Rajabhat University offers diverse cultural and sporting facilities to enrich its students with multi-professional skills from sport to culture, language and music. There¡¯s music, dance, journalism and drama clubs on offer for students to participate in, as well as regular cultural exhibitions such as the Melayu cultural music band. Students have access to language centres on campus to enhance their bilingual skills, including the Oxford learning centre. Every semester, students can also participate in the university¡¯s sports competition.
