The Times Higher Education Young Universities Summit 2017 will take place at Australia¡¯s Queensland University of Technology (QUT) from 5 to 7 April 2017.
The conference, which brings together senior university, government and industry leaders, will be on the theme ¡°Disruptive, dynamic, distinctive: Universities rising to the challenges of tomorrow¡±.
Peter Coaldrake, vice-chancellor of the Brisbane-based institution, which was founded in 1989 and ranked 28th in this week¡¯s 150 Under 50 Rankings 2016, said the event will ¡°provide an important platform to highlight the ways that young universities are often leaders in new models of collaboration, diversity in leadership, and the leveraging of synergies particularly between STEM and the creative industries¡±.

¡°Young universities are also showing a capacity to model the pursuit of excellence in combination with a practicing commitment to social justice,¡± he added.
?¡°The performance of younger universities is clearly impacting the established order. It is not doing so by merely mimicking the behaviours of more established players, but by completely reconsidering the terms of engagement with the students who learn with us and the various communities we serve through our research and partnerships.¡±
