2. JOB PURPOSE / ROLE:?
The History department has available a tenured position as associate or assistant professor in records management and archival science. The position will be mainly related to teach students on undergraduates and postgraduate Academic Programs at Sorbonne University, Abu Dhabi (SUAD), ensuring appropriate support is provided and high-performance levels achieved. 	Conduct collective and individual research within the field of interest in order to satisfy the strategy of the University and research objectives given by the research council and enhance the University’s reputation, including but not limited to: determining relevant research objectives, initiating and implementing a research project and managing timeframes; resources; materials, finance, equipment etc. in order to achieve the research objectives.?
	Write-up research work appropriately for publication to disseminate ideas and results to the wider community and participate in presentations and conferences to establish and maintain network contacts, raise the profile of the research and University, and keep up to date with recent developments.?
	Identify appropriate sources of funding and prepare research proposals in order to obtain the financial support needed for the research project.?
	Supervise undergraduate and postgraduate research students to assist in the development of their research skills and fulfil the research requirements of their degree qualification.?


Lecturing?


	?Deliver teaching courses (100hrs per semester, namely 8hrs per week on average) to ensure that student learning outcomes are achieved, and aim for teaching excellence for the department, including but not limited to preparing teaching material in advance;?communicating subject matter in a way students can understand; observing student progress and learning styles; reacting appropriately to students needs; responding, where appropriate, to student questions outside class times; preparing for contingencies in course delivery etc.?
	Conduct assessment of the students’ work to determine whether the students have achieved the desired standards for progression in their studies or award of a qualification and providing feedback designed to develop and motivate student learning and addressing issues if required.?
	Develop and encourage teaching modes based on projects and students autonomous work, and research-oriented teaching. ?

	Provide academic and career advice to students according to their academic or personal needs, within own level of competence. If necessary, refer them to the appropriate authority for further help or guidance e.g. Business Liaison & Career Advisor, Student Counsellor and/or a relevant University staff member.?
	Responsible to build positive relationships with students that enhance the learning experience, foster a supportive academic environment, and contribute to the overall success of both students and the institution.
	Provide guidance on internships, placements, and job opportunities whenever required by students.?

	Invigilate examinations when required, to ensure that exams are carried out according to the rules set out by the exam board; allow each candidate to sit the exam in the same conditions; and control cheating.?
	To support and participate in examination activities such as paper setting, assessing answer sheets, students’ presentation, and practical evaluation etc.?


?Daily operations of the department ??


	Liaise with the Academic Coordinator to arrange the teaching requirements, such as lesson schedules; teaching materials; submission of student assessments; addressing student special needs for testing etc.?
	Participate in the events, communications, and school visits etc. to support the recruitment objectives. ?
	Organize events and extra-curricular activities (cultural events, conferences, field trips etc.), encourage community engagement and culture of continuous learning and professional development. ?


Administrative ?


	Work with relevant departments to support the development and implementation of university functions, such as Student Recruitment; Admissions; Library learning resources; IT teaching technology etc.?
	Coordinate teaching programs with relevant faculty staff to ensure the course complements other courses taken by students.?
	Represent the faculty or the department on relevant committees, task forces and focus groups to ensure appropriate governance and progress in the university.?


5. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, & SKILLS:?
Minimum Qualifications:?


	Assistant or Associate Professor with PhD Degree in Archives, Records Management, Information Science or linked to this field (granted by Gov. body when available from home-country, CNU approval is mandatory if qualification was obtained in France). ?


Minimum Experience:?


	Excellent academic background and recognized experience n teaching at the university level for undergraduate and postgraduate academic programs. ?
	Proven track record of exceptional achievements in teaching, research and administrative tasks reflected in activity reports and recommendation letters.?


Job-Specific Skills:?


	Original publications in scientific journals or in proceedings of scientific conferences. ?
	Coordination of the BA program in records management and archival science ?
	Evaluation and review of BA and Master courses on a regular basis ?
	Students counselling and supervising, especially for the applied works at the National Archives ?
	Advanced mastery of innovative pedagogical skills and knowledge of university learning resources and technology including Microsoft Office programs and online platforms.?

The Designer Materials and Devices Group at the Department of Electronics and Nanoengineering is looking for a highly motivated?Postdoctoral Researcher?to work on Time-Varying Electromagnetic Systems, related to a large international project "Self-Programmable Metasurface Networks for Wireless Communications and IoT".

Scientific context

A key challenge for 6G, which is expected to operate at sub-THz frequencies, is overcoming high signal attenuation caused by the atmosphere and urban materials like concrete. To address this, 6G will rely on reconfigurable intelligent surfaces (metasurfaces), passive structures that can optimize wireless environments by directing electromagnetic waves without costly active components. Incorporating active control elements into metasurfaces introduces time as a fourth design dimension, overcoming the limitations of passivity, linearity, and reciprocity. This addition enables advanced functionalities like wave mixing, parametric processes, frequency conversion and amplification, beam steering across momentum and frequency domains, and reciprocity breaking. These innovations will significantly enhance the performance and flexibility of 6G communication systems, allowing for more efficient and adaptable signal management.

Your role and goals

As a postdoctoral researcher, you will contribute to pioneering research in time-varying systems, including metasurfaces and photonic time crystals. The research will have both fundamental and applied science components. The research methodology will have both theoretical, simulation, fabrication, and experimental parts.

There are possibilities for research collaboration and extended visits to the following project partners: A. Alù (City University of New York), H. Krishnaswamy (Columbia University), M. Rinaldi (Northeastern University), and S. Shakkottai (University of Texas at Austin), Z. Sun (Aalto University), and N. Ravaja (University of Helsinki).

The expected starting date for the position is negotiable but preferably January 1, 2025 and it is intended for full-time work. The selected person will work under supervision of Assistant Professor Viktar Asadchy and Emeritus Professor Sergei Tretyakov. The successful applicant will have a possibility to cooperate with world-class researchers, publish in high-profile journals, supervise students, attend scientific conferences, and go on research visits to the external collaborators.

Your experience and ambitions?

As a successful candidate for this position, you must have:


	A doctoral (PhD) degree in electrical engineering, physics, or similar.
	Strong background in electrodynamics and excellent mathematical skills.
	Experience in metasurface design.
	Ability to generate own research ideas.
	Proficiency in electromagnetic simulation software, such as COMSOL Multiphysics, CST Studio Suite, or ANSYS HFSS and electronic design software, such as ADS.
	High proficiency in Matlab, Python, or similar programming software.
	Solid list of publications.
	Prior student advisor experience.
	High motivation, patience, and stress resistance.
	Excellent written and verbal communication, including presentation skills.
	Highly proficient English language skills.
	Excellent organizational skills, attention to details, and ability to meet deadlines.
	Willingness to learn and work collaboratively in a research environment.


Skills, knowledge, and abilities in the following areas are not required but highly desirable:


	Experience in time-varying systems, RF circuit design, diffraction gratings and antenna array theory.
	Industrial experience.
	Solid grant writing experience.

	Experience in machine learning or computational electromagnetics.

What we offer

Aalto University follows the salary system of Finnish universities. The salary ranges for a postdoc from?4020 € to 4200 € per month, depending on previous experience, and the postdoc contract will be made?for at least 2 years (6-month probation). Description

NYU Abu Dhabi invites applications for an open-rank, two-year visiting faculty appointment in the NYUAD Philosophy program starting Academic Year 2025-2026. Applicants should have a demonstrated capacity to teach courses in non-Western or other traditionally underrepresented areas of philosophy. The NYUAD Philosophy Program views philosophy as a fully global discipline, and its curriculum strives to integrate the study of contemporary international philosophy with an understanding of philosophy’s rich multicultural history.

Teaching load for the year is four undergraduate courses (typically 2 in Fall, 2 in Spring) plus capstone thesis advising. These courses may include introductory and advanced Philosophy electives, as well as courses in NYUAD’s distinctive Core Curriculum. (All instruction is in English.)

Visiting faculty (if not retired) must be able to obtain a leave of absence and a letter of no objection from their home institution. The appointed person will be affiliated to the Future Sustainable Food Systems (FS)2 -research group led by Professor Hanna Tuomisto.

The task of the postdoctoral researcher is to carry out world leading research related to sustainability assessment of future food system scenarios. The focus is in estimating the potential of novel food production technologies (e.g. cellular agriculture and vertical farming) to improve the sustainability and resilience of food systems globally together with other options, such as agroecological farming, improvements in agricultural technologies, dietary change and improved circularity. The appointee is also expected to be involved in preparations of funding applications, supervision of MSc and PhD students and teaching activities at the Faculty of Agriculture and Forestry.?

Requirements

We look for candidates in the field of sustainability assessment who:? have a doctoral degree granted before the beginning of employment?


	have experience in the field of life cycle assessment (LCA) of agriculture, food production and/or food systems (including a minimum of one scientific peer-review publication related to the topic) and experience in using LCA software (e.g. SimaPro, Gabi or OpenLCA)
	have programming skills (e.g. Python, R, MATLAB, C)
	have ability to conduct scholarly work and research both independently and as member of interdisciplinary research groups

What we offer

The salary of the postdoctoral researcher will be based on level 5 of the demands level chart for teaching and research personnel in the salary system of Finnish universities. In addition, the appointee will be paid a salary component based on personal performance. The starting salary of the postdoctoral researcher will be c. 3500-4000 €/month depending on experience. A six-month trial period will be applied. The workplace of the position is at Viikki campus in Helsinki.
