Only 28,000, or 44?per cent, of higher education’s 63,000 part?time academics had permanent contracts in the 2012-13 academic year. By contrast 92,000, or 75 per cent, of the 123,000 academics working full-time in higher education held permanent positions, according to the Equality Challenge Unit’s annual Equality in Higher Education: Statistical Report 2014.
The report, published on 18 November, revealed that 80 per cent of part-time and 88?per cent of full-time support staff had permanent contracts.
