Ken Smith (Letters, 15 February) deduces from Matthew Reisz¡¯s statement that Kori Schake ¡°was born in Sonoma, California, ¡®not far from where gold was discovered in 1848¡¯¡±, that Schake ¡°will turn 170 this year¡±. However, Reisz¡¯s word order does not support this humorous claim. The order ¡°in 1848 not far from where gold was discovered¡± would favour Smith¡¯s droll deduction.
