The Times Higher Education Impact Rankings are the only global performance tables that assess universities against the United Nations¡¯ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). We use carefully calibrated indicators to provide comprehensive and balanced comparisons across three broad areas: research, outreach and stewardship.

This table on SDG 14 ¨C life below water measures universities¡¯ research on life below water and their education on and support for aquatic ecosystems.

The list includes 242 universities from 58 countries.

The list is led by Canada¡¯s University of British Columbia, while New Zealand¡¯s University of Auckland and the US¡¯ Arizona State University (Tempe) complete the top three.

Japan is the most-represented nation in the table with 34 institutions, followed by Russia and the UK with 13 each.
